now let me go down as saying i'm not a birther but if people do bring forward compelling evidence against the case of my Commander in Chiefs status as a citizen of the US i do at least give then a once over before dismissing them. Of course this is from Brietbart.com so i do take it with a grain of salt.

Archive.org shows that the Dystel website used the following biography for Obama as of April 3, 2007:

Obama launched his presidential campaign in February 2007.

Let me go on record as saying I am 100% birther. I don't give a rat's patooty if the lefties think that means I'm a damn dirty racist or not; things like, oh, I don't know, somebody's official bio are what I call reasonable grounds for suspicion. The fact that he refuted the original birther theories with a document that's a forgery doesn't do much to inspire confidence. Sure, it's possible that the guy on youtube who de-constructed the document was smart enough to fool me, because I don't know much about computers. But Joe Arpaio agrees that it's a fake.

Let's put it another way: there's a hell of a lot more evidence that Obama is ineligible to be President than there is that the shooting of Trayvon Martin was anything but lawful self-defense. I'm just sayin'.

Not sure what else could be done to prove that the man was born on US soil. Whatever proof he provided to the election board was good enough for them. I keep wondering why its not good enough for everyone else. The Hawaii officials are all (to my knowledge) saying this is the real stuff.

So... a bunch of people who aren't involved in the HI records departments think its a fake? And how would they know? HI's system is significantly different than most states (think Japanese instead of American)... so what makes Sheriff Joe an authority on Hawaii documents?

And who should we believe - a literary agent who is trying to make his liberal client more exotic and enticing? Or the official state records provided by our slavishly precise bureaucrats here in Hawaii? I do agree that it IS reasonable grounds for suspicion but I'm satisfied by the state records that its he's legit.

(Now as to the question of HI being legal US Soil or not is quite another matter...)

There are tons of reasons to dislike the man. This one is ridiculous.

As ridiculous as the liberals that relentlessly harped on the idea that Bush stole the Florida election. Didn't make a bit of difference except in their blood pressure.

Has anyone seen the actual, paper copy of that birth certificate? The only one I know of being released was an electronic copy, which has been clearly refuted as a tampered document. The guys that did the investigation for Arpaio don't need to be experts on Hawaii's specific documents, they need to be experts on Adobe Photoshop, which I'm comfortable assuming they are.

Would those bureaucrats be of the same precision caliber as the folks at the firearms desk, who freely tell you to keep copies of your registration paperwork, because they routinely lose it? Bureaucrats from a state so liberal that Putin probably thinks we should loosen up a bit?

It may turn out he was born here, just as he claims, but claiming that it's completely ridiculous to harbor doubts about the truthfulness of Obama's story is incorrect. It's not as though there's an overwhelming amount of evidence; there's precious little in the way of proof one way or the other, so I remain unconvinced.

It boils down to one of three possibilities, as I've said before: 1) the head of a major law enforcement agency is lying to besmirch a sitting US President. This should be investigated. 2) A sitting US President is lying about his qualification to hold office. This should be investigated. 3)The head of the aforementioned major law enforcement agency is a blundering idiot who incorrectly believes a sitting US President is lying. This should be investigated.

Now can we please do an actual investigation? If someone told me I wasn't born in the US, I wouldn't scoff and say they're nutty birthers, I'd just prove it. Why hasn't Obama done so? Would it take up much of his time? "Hey, Sharon? Could you call up Joe Arpaio and tell him I'm going to give those retards on his cold case posse a chance to examine my paper birth certificate, please? Then call Jim and let him know to cooperate with Arpaio's nutty bunch of loons. Thanks." Instead, he just pshaws any concern about the issue, and that combined with a ludicrously sketchy electronic document is enough for people to say that harboring doubts about his place of birth "ridiculous."

I want the original, I want the transcripts to be released from the colleges that he attended, just like all the other presidents have. I would love to know how Berry could travel to a country that no citizen of the US could fly to back in the 80's Pakistan. The only way he could have done it was with a British passport. What, we're not good enough as citizens to know the truth. Documents nowadays can be forged easily.

It was. Hawaii released on official certified copy of his birth certificate, as permitted by Hawaii law. Period. It suffices as proof unless you want to take issue with the State of Hawaii's record keeping system. The States get uppity when the Fed starts challenging them on their own turf... so the Fed didn't challenge it.

(Same thing happened with Florida's election tallying system. Florida called it and agree or not it stuck.)

Investigation over.

Just saying that if you question Hawaii's official stance then all born here are potential non-citizens.

By that logic, nobody died because of Fast and Furious. Holder investigated and found there was no wrongdoing. End of discussion.

You should also provide specific links to them. I'm sorry, but too much stuff on the intenet is just rumor-mongering. Nothing personal, mind you, but my most favorite Apostle is "Doubting Thomas."

I'm with a lot of others who take a wait and see attitude on this, but I'm also aware that the Administration is very clever, and it is possible that absolute proof of his US birthplace will be forthcoming at exactly the right moment to embarrass and marginalize the birthers.

So I have my doubts about his eligibility based on what I've seen so far, but I will not exclude the possibility that all the "possibly fake documents" were issued as a political / public relations ploy, for the exact purpose of generating and maintaining the controversy until the right moment.
