Gov. Linda Lingle's "Firearm Coalition" meeting
« on: July 25, 2012, 04:34:15 PM »
Aloha all,

Gov. Lingle's campaign has organized a coalition of Hawaii's firearms owners, shooters, and hunters. They want "us" to know Gov. Lingle is firearms friendly and what she can do when she gets elected. To that end, there is a meeting scheduled for Thursday evening. I have been told I can extend an invitation to the public, and in particular, the leaders of the various firearms groups in Hawaii. The specifics are below. Please come out and join in...I'll be there.

Our coalition meeting will be at the Linda Lingle Senate Headquarters:
Thursday, July 26th - 6:00 PM
Dillingham Plaza - 1505 Dillingham Blvd (old bank building next to Sizzler)
between Waikamilo & Kalihi Streets on Dillingham - lots of free parking.
I will be serving pupus and soft drinks for the meeting.

I think Charles Djou is pretty pro-2a.  More than the encumbant, anyway...for whatever that's worth.

is there a specific place in the building to go?
mahalo for arranging this, but one small suggestion- not sure that "firearm coalition" is such a good name
to many, it may sound menacing
the anti crowd has enough ammunition, so to speak, to try and make gun owners look bad

Thank you!  Unfortunately we being on Maui, we will not be able to attend.... As we know her personally, we offer our thoughts, well wishes, and VOTES....

Is the HRA going to release it's recommendations for gun friendly candidates?

What seat is she running for, something congressional?

I support anything anyone can do to secure our 2a rights here in Hawaii.

That said, Ms. Lingle is running for a US Senate seat, and Hawaii's gun laws are determined by the State legislature, not the US Senate, so I'm not going to get my hopes up too much.

I wish she had discovered her "gun friendliness" when she was our governor, and could have actually done something about it.
If I were a cynical type, I might say that now it just smacks of election year campaign promises.  :o

Just my 2 cents worth.
Aloha.

Yes. We are tabulating the responses now...and still getting some late replies. We'll be putting something out ASAP....

I don't know which building it is in, but I am pretty sure it'll be well marked...they are campaigning and it is their headquarters.

I wish I could take credit for arranging it, but her campaign put this together...it's being headed by a genuine, no-fooling, gun guy from the Big Island.

In terms of who she is running against, I think she is the better candidate. That being said, there are a few "issues" I think we as gun rights advocates need to hear her address...Like Hawaii's Attorney General, under her administration, signing on to one of the amici briefs supporting Washington's gun ban, and her Adjutant General testifying against the gun confiscation bill and for the police package of bills in 2008 that would have banned 50 caliber guns, restricted ammo sales to those with guns registered in that caliber, and a host of other restrictive measures....especially in light of her 2002 campaign statement that she was not going to support any new gun control laws in Hawaii....
