General Discussion / Re: Palmetto State - freight forwarding
« on: January 23, 2024, 11:01:37 AM »
I just ordered from them around Black Friday, and the website had that shipping policy about freight forwarder on there. But I gave it a shot and they shipped directly to my house.

But I only ordered 2 scopes. No actual gun parts. So idk

For budget grade, best value and bang for your buck get a nitride Palmetto State Armory AR.

For a solid easy option that is one of the best values in what I would call the higher level of mid tier and very reliable I would recommend BCM Recce 16” with an ELW barrel.

just FWIW, got an email from Jen, they've lined up transport again, should be about $2 per pound.  She said they're planning a shipment in January, trying to avoid the holiday shipping flurry.  Same ND address.

I got the same email. I am stoked they are back up and running.

I picked up a killer deal on the second day.

$10/box of 50 rounds for newer production factory brass case 357 magnum JHP.

He only had 5 boxes but I bought all of them for $50.

Comes out to 20 cents a round.

General Discussion / Re: Fastest CCW Permit Approval
« on: September 20, 2023, 01:34:07 PM »
A few of the guys who took the class with me mid December 2022 got their permits in under 45 days. I had to wait until start of January to submit everything because of some paperwork technicalities. And that delayed me all the way until the end of April. So waiting 15 days longer to apply made my approval time take 80 days longer.

I like the ballistic advantage Hanson barrels. They are good barrels with corrosion resistant nitride finishes. And they come with a pinned gas block.

I bought my barrels from Bking. Best deal around for Ballistic advantage barrels.

166 days and counting, anyone else waiting longer than me so far?

I just saw one of the guys who did the same ccw class as me the other day. we did a class around mid December. He applied before Christmas and is still waiting.

I just contacted the firearms section via email, just so happened, somehow, they didn't have a copy of my driver's license, and they needed me to sign my pistol permit.  I know I definitely submitted a copy of my DL when I turned it in, why I need to sign the pistol permit is beyond my logic.....

Anyway, they got back to me a few days later with status.

FYSA - firearms section has been reduced in force, so everything is taking A LONG TIME.  anticipate long lines and wait times to exercise your RIGHTS........

I was there on Tuesday for long gun permit renewal and there was a young guy who applied in January, and I overheard him tell them he came in because they called him saying they needed a copy of his ID and his handgun safety affidavit. He said he gave both of them when he originally applied, but I guess they didn’t make copies at that time of those 2 items, but they had copies of his other required other items.

A little fishy. And kind of a bummer cuz he is prob gonna be another 6 months before they take another look at his folder (and hopefully all copies are there this time).

Currently in SB1230, if a CCW license is not approved within 120 days, it is automatically denied.

If everything in the last few laws passed, then everyone will be denied. There is no way they can do all the required interviews in time. They can barely do the basic background checks in 120 days.

I called yesterday at and officer I spoke with had no update for me. But today this afternoon I got my certified approval letter in the mail. I applied Jan 5th. I will be picking it up tomorrow morning.

So basically 110 days, and I don’t have a PCP for them to even check with as my physician retired last year.

Ridiculous. When pretty much all the guys who took the same ccw class as me and applied 10-15 days earlier than me, got theirs within 60 days. Most were within 45 days so.

I submitted January 5th and still haven’t received mine.

Most of the other guys who took the same ccw class as me submitted at the end of December and their permits were all completed in under 50 days.

Mine should have been even easier to complete, because my Primary Care Physician actually retired in December. So they didn’t even have a PCP to contact.

I am going to call this week and see what is going on. Last time I called, I talked to female officer who was rude and basically told me don’t call us, we will call you if we need anything.

Go through Kaleo Arms. They are the best. I have used them multiple times. You will ship to their base location in North Dakota. Then they will forward to Hawaii. I have done one whole pallet myself before. And multiple cases other times as part of the group pallet.

Glock is always a good option for magazine commonality/availability, and spare/aftermarket parts availability. And just all around reliability. But they are not the most ergonomic of handguns.

Most of my handguns are striker fired. But I think my favorite off the shelf handgun I have tried so far is the CZP10c. It shoots really nice. Has decent controls and the trigger is better than my glocks. And it comes with useable metal luminescent stock sights.

I would recommend CZP10c for mid size and CZp10f for dull size if you want to go striker fired route.

And I have also shot, but do not own CZ shadow 2’s and they are really nice full size, but will cost you more $ and are hammer fired. And the basic hammer fired models for CZ are also a good option from what I hear.
