The hearing is 24 hours later on 4/2/24 at 10:05am.

THIS IS A DECISION ONLY HEARING. So no Zoom or in person testimony excepted.  Only online testimony accepted.

This is about making misdemeanors a felony if you're CCWing.  And making butterfly/switch blades legal, but you cannot conceal carry them. So almost useless. They're only making them legal because they've been sued and trying to stiff the attorney by changing the law.

General Discussion / George Young Passes Away
« on: March 21, 2024, 10:45:46 AM »
.

From Atty Alan Beck

"Sgt. Major George K. Young Jr. (Retired U.S. Army Green Beret) passed on earlier this week.  He was my first client I represented on my own.  Prior to meeting me, he had filed two pro se lawsuit against Hawaii's concealed carry restrictions.  That means he was his own lawyer.  I corresponded with him while working on my first federal case.  Shortly, there after he told me he was going to file a third lawsuit.  After he was dismissed a third time, I agreed to represent him on appeal. Together we took the case to the U.S. Supreme Court, prevailed  and compelled the counties in Hawaii to adopt the Bruen ruling which made them begin to issue concealed carry permits for the first time in Hawaiian history.  My first Second Amendment case was supposed to be a one off and I had no intention of filing any subsequent cases until I met George.  He convinced me to keep filing cases and often helped me research colonial history which he was an expert in. He taught me a lot during the ten years I represented him.  Everything that we've accomplished in Hawaii is thanks to George.  He inspired the whole movement we are a part of.  He was a dear friend and he will be deeply missed."

We owe lots to Mr. Young as he and Alan fought and is still fighting for our freedom that HI loves to deny.

He tweeted about presidential immunity cause Trump claims it.

Something like "Since presidents have immunity, would Biden be immune if he had Trump assassinated?".

2 days later he was interviewed and blamed Trump.

I've read his prior tweets since 2016 and he has TDS.

Legal and Activism / FIRE MISSION HB 2342 BEFORE 3/14 3:05PM
« on: March 12, 2024, 04:57:11 PM »
Hearing is 24 hours later on 3/15.

They're making butterfly knives and switch blades legal to only open carry. Conceal carrying them would be illegal.

The purpose of this is to screw the lawyer over for the lawsuit so he doesn't get paid by the state when he wins.  If the state changes the law, then the lawsuit gets thrown out.  And HI is trying their best to be in compliance with the 2nd amendment, but doing as much as possible to regulate it. Hence the ban on concealed carrying it.

« on: March 12, 2024, 02:56:42 PM »
Hearing is on 3/15 at 2pm.

Testimony is due 24hrs before the hearing.

They added in that ALL ID's must be checked regardless of assumed age if you sell or transfer ammo. Which means if you let someone try your gun at the range, you have to check their ID, even though they're a kapuna.

Email and call your senator by 3/4 to vote no.

The "amendments" did almost nothing as parts are still banned.

Mags arent grandfathered in.

General Discussion / USA for the assist
« on: February 29, 2024, 12:20:06 PM »
I'm part of a CCW FB group and 1 guy posted about his dad who lives in Israel just got issued a G19 for CCW. Holster options are very limited, so his son in the USA is sending him some things.  The father is asking CCW questions.  So even though Israel has been fighting for centuries and pretty much everyone is former IDF, CCWing in daily life for civilians is a new thing.  The USA has been doing it in free states for a while now.

He was going to send him some dry fire tools like Matis X, but I guess it's illegal to dry fire at home.  I mean, how would anyone know...

Good for Alan.

The hearing is 24 hours later on 2/22 at 2pm.

This bill allows possession of butterfly knives and switchblades, but you cannot conceal it.
14
Hearing is on 2/23/24 at 9:30am. So testimony is due 24hr prior.

Even if you submitted testimony last time, you have to do it again. Testimony doesnt carry over.

There is no in person or zoom testimony as this is a "decision making" only hearing. Online testimony is being accepted.

Same version as the last hearing. The bill has now advanced to its new commitee (JDC).

This bans new purchases of "assault rifles", "assault shotguns", "assault pistols", any pistol with a threaded barrel.

All rifle mags greater than 10rds will be illegal and have no compensation.

Some rifle parts will no longer be legal to buy: handguard, flash hider, pistol grip, adjustible/folding buttstocks, foregrips. So if any breaks, you cannot fit it.

You cannot take your rifle out of state and bring it back home.

Only the registered owner can use the rifle.

Hawaii compliant "assault pistols" will be illegal.

If you live in the Puna district, call your senator since she sits on the voting commitee. Joy Buenaventura 808-586-6890.

If you live in Kapolei, Makakilo, Ewa, call Senator Mike Gabbard to vote no 808-586-6830.

SB3196

THIS BANS SEMI AUTO RIFLES AND SHOTGUNS. ALSO BANS PARTS FOR ANY SEMI AUTO RIFLE. YOU ALSO CANNOT SEND THE RIFLE OUT OF STATE AND BRING IT BACK IN.

Testimony due by 2/13 @ 3pm (24hrs prior to the hearing).

What this means...if your rifle breaks, you cannot get any replacement parts to fix it. Nor can you take it out of state for repairs or events and have it brought back to Hawaii.

Click on the link. Sign in and click submit testomony.

Also anyone with a HI legal "assault pistol", the fixed mag cannot accept more than 10rds.

Call all your friends to let them know.

This is the big one this year.

Legal and Activism / State vs. Wilson
« on: February 07, 2024, 11:06:45 AM »
This is the charge for places to keep and registration.

Wilson was on someones land trespassing on Maui and had an unregistered 22 handgun in his waistband.  He was not charged for having a CCW, but HI's places to keep law and registration.

Wilson lost. See below:

1) HI judge dismissed the charges due to Bruen. But the Attorney General (AG) didn't agree with that, so she pushed the issue.  It went to the Hawaii Supreme Court.

2) HI SC ruled with HI due to the following:

A) Bruen is wrong

B)Heller is wrong

C) You need a time machine to go back to get history and tradition.

D) In 1810, Kind Kamehameha banned the splintered paddle   weapon in name of public safety (public safety arugement is being used)

E) Hawaii State Constitution is primary over the Constitution that applies to the entire nation.

F) The "aloha spirit" supports not needing to carry a gun

G) Wilson never even tried to apply for his HI CCW back in 2017 when this took place

For your required ccw shooting test, they do not allow appendix draw due to the stressor of time added.

They allow appendix draw all other times you use their range.

Legal and Activism / 19 gun bills this session. 2 are pro 2a.
« on: January 29, 2024, 08:54:27 AM »
Slow year for our anti 2a legislature.

The biggest bill to watch for is the assault weapon ban and assault parts ban (same bill).

Rep Kila (D) proposed a stand your ground type bill.  He also voted against SB1230.  I spoke to him and he votes according to what his people want, not along party lines.  This shows that even though some don't submit testimony, there are other venues to get your voice heard or help the cause.

Legal and Activism / CA "assault weapons" case (Miller)
« on: January 27, 2024, 11:17:09 AM »
The 9th decided not to make a ruling, but instead punt and wait till Duncan (CA mag ban) to be ruled on.

2 of the 3 are anti gun, so i guess this is better than a anti 2a ruling.

Corrupt 9th delay tactic.

This means if HI passes the AWB, it will be law unless this is settled in our favor. Maybe in a year or 2. Green would sigm the bill asap and it would be effective on 7/8/24.
