Can we get a list of what needs to be done?

Its going to be pointless if everyone shows up with machetes to chop down trees and they want us raking brass.

we're working on it
priority items first

we're working on it
priority items first

main goal is to clean and refurbish the bathrooms
next goal is to paint all the rifle benches and the wooden benches in the waiting area
biggest goal is general grounds maintenance/cleanup/rubbish

needs will be listed in separate threads

I'm in.

Anyone here a photographer or videographer by any chance?  Might be to our advantage to document all the good work we do, or even better contact the media to do a positive piece on us for once.

organizers have this covered
press release being written
mayor's aide also helping with coverage
politicians and media will be notified

if media does not come, we have videographer making edited video for use on the news channels

no
cost and time and labor prevent this
liability and city/union rules probably come into play too

mayor caldwell says it is a priority of his administration to repave the range

Who is the photographer? No shots or video of me please.

you have to get a cool hat like mine
and then do the square dancing moves to avoid the cameras like the rest of us

Thanks for your hard work organizing all this.  Hope the word gets out.  Are we using social media to spread the word and if not anyone "good" at it?  Scheduled to work that day but looking to contribute funds.

I will volunteer to do whatever I'm assigned to do. I have also been given permission from the president of the company I work for  ( my wifey) to provide coffee brewers and bottled water for the event. All I really need is a spot I can place a folding table with access to 2 electrical outlets. Lmk, if this is something that would be helpful or not. Either way, I will be there to help with the project

I can do some plumbing, painting, electrical, and carpentry. I got tools (cordless and corded), 2000 watt Honda generator and some paint/paint brushes, rollers. Let me know what colors and I'll check to see if I have enough.

Hey Macsac,

Just checking, is the range cleanup still on for the 29th? Reading the thread it appears it is, but I just wanted to double check.

I am going to ask the LIFE instructors to assist, and I am also going to see if we can use the HRA's messaging system to get the word out, but again, just needed to confirm.

I worked in landscaping and lawn care for a few years on the mainland. Any use for those skills in this effort? More than willing to help out in anyway possible.

I brought up range clean up with my contact from Mayor's office. He had not heard anything about it but was interested in the details as people are allowed to 'adopt' highways and parks and stuff. His initial impression was positive, so it's possible there is some support there.

aloha hvy
our contacts are the parks director and the range master
and the mayor and one of his aides (i think his name is jesse)
we will be meeting sometime soon (hopefully) to discuss adopt-a-park
you could direct your contact to this section of 2aHI or they can contact the cleanup crew at khsccleanup@gmail.com

This type of event is great for the 2a community.  Just happened to stumble across this thread and am a bit sad cause it looks like it fell along the byways.

I'm thinking due to possible liability and legal concerns by City and County.

I think every day you go to the range should be a clean up day. Toss a garbage bag in your shooting kit and do a quick cleaning of the parking area before you leave. Bring a some garden shears or a machete and cut back some bushes. There are many small ways individuals can contribute to make the range better.

Think it can be done with adopt a park or a city council resolution.
