Update.
Went back to Vegas again and carried again.
1) The woman killed at Fashion Show mall, she forgot her mask in the car. So her husband went back to grab it for her. Once she was alone is when the 2 guys attacked. Also my firearms instructor who lives here, his sister in law in Vegas was robbed by the same guy back in September 2021. So this isn't their first rodeo.
2) After carrying again so close to the last time, I would prefer a smaller pistol. Not a fan of the SIG P365 due to the mush trigger and no trigger safety, but maybe a smaller Glock or a S&W Shield. Like I posted above, when you carry a once a year, pistol size doesn't really matter too much. But carrying daily is a different story. And since it was still cold, the jacket hides lots.
3) While we were there, it was also Shot Show. We got an offer to go thru A Girl and A Gun organization, but declined. Prior to COVID, shot show grud was a thing. So I wouldn't want to add that plus Covid. But in looking back, we should have accepted because it was way emptier than normal. Like almost eerie empty. Some vendors pulled out like SIG and Colt. They had booths with their names on it, but no items or staff. It was good to see my kind of people up there. And although casino's don't allow guns, there were some who were CCWing. Venetian didn't enforce as much as I thought they would. In fact, this trip, I saw even less security walking the floor.
The demographic of this trip was mainly haole's. Compared to December when it was mainly Chinese, like 80% and all ages/generations. It's funny cause the majority look this time was trucker hats, beards, 5.11 cargo pants, and backpacks with MOLLE loops on them. We did feel safer with all these law abiding citizens around and self defense like minded people. What I was disappointed in was that we didn't see any famous people like Warrior Poet, John Correa, Rudy Reyes, etc...The bar at the Venetian was the after party. Super packed and I looked thru the patrons and saw no one I recognized.
4) On a non 2a note, what was cool was I was playing Let it Ride at Harrahs. 1 guy on our table hit a straight flush. He won $73,000 progressive. And because we were on the same table, we got an envy payout of $1,500. But 1 guy wasn't playing the progressive so he didn't get the envy payout. The casino paid the winner in chips. He also decided to take tax out of $17,000, which they took. He then walked to the cashier and made a check for the $50K+. This was a sight to see, because I hear of stuff like this, but never see it in person. 1 wonders if I sat down next to him, I could have won this. But in this case he was seating in position #1, so there was no way to sit before him and get the hand. He tipped the dealer $1K and the guy who lost out on the envy payout $500. If it were me, I would also tip every player on the table $1K (3 of us). Because the envy payout is from the casino, not the pot that he won. Prior to them paying him, they took about 20 mins to review the camera footage, just to make sure there was no cheating. Then they counted every card in that hand because if 1 card is missing or there are duplicate cards, then the payout is void. The pic below, yellow chips are $1K each and near the dealers hand are purple chips $500 each and the tax they took out.
5) Ate and walked in some areas that aren't the best, but knowing that we're armed gives us a piece of mind knowing we're safe. But we are still scanning like usual because it's always best to avoid a threat if possible.
