They want to confiscate firearms of owners who legally acquired them because the tipping point was 22 murders were committed by a gunman who illegally obtained firearms..

So instead of strengthening the laws to prevent illegal acquisition of firearms the solution for the problem is to take away the guns of law-abiding citizens.  A few break the rules and everyone gets punished.

Robinson Armament XCR rifle
CZ Scorpion EVO 3 carbine and pistol
Beretta CX4 Storm carbine
SIG Sauer SIG MCX and SIG Sauer SIG MPX carbine and pistol
Swiss Arms Classic Green and Four Seasons series (as specified in former Bill C-71)
Also now prohibited are firearms with the following characteristics:
capable of discharging a projectile with a muzzle energy greater than 10,000 Joules
a bore of 20 mm or greater
Upper receivers of M16, AR-10, AR-15 and M4 pattern firearms are also now prohibited devices.

Check out the annual "assault weapons ban" bill in DC. It's 80 pages and names every make and model. Almost all of HI's reps in DC supported it. Including Tulsi (former rep).

I'm pretty sure nobody here has any of those nasty "assault" weapons so we have no concerns.
But I've noticed that much of the world where these guns are, compliance of bans isn't very wide spread.
Even in places where universal registration is required.
Perhaps Germany, Russia, China, and many other states has taught some of us a lesson,
give up your guns and you may very well die.
Personally I don't violate any Constitutional, Federal, state, or local laws.
However I would not consider anyone violating most of the gun laws in Hawaii
to be a criminal.
What is criminal,  is,  if they use guns to commit crimes
and hurt people.
Most Democrats can't comprehend that distinction.
