I've used montana gold for probably 20 some years, i prefer them for my handies.  https://montanagoldbullet.com/

I have also ordered from rmr.  I loaded up a bunch but they have been collecting dust for the past 2 years..... They have a decent selection and the quality seems good not having a chance to send any down range.

I think im still sitting on about 4k .223 55gr armscore i had picked up from surplus ammo that i have yet to try.

Xtreme used to be super popular for 9 mm when they had free shipping. They stopped that for a while and not sure if they changed. I used to order Xtreme from Cabelas since they have free shipping. Haven’t ordered for a while though.

If you are thinking about practicing with a self-defense gun and with the primer situation being what it is (scarce), I would load hollow points.
why? ....to make each shot purposeful.

If you are new to reloading and/or defensive pistol shooting you might have a new pistol.
This is what I would do if such were the case:

Since actual SD ammo is expensive, I would load a simulator round. ie. a round that looks like and feels like actual SD ammo.
Since HPD uses Speer gold dot 124, that's what I tried to simulate.
It looks like Cabelas has the bullet that I used in my simulation project. They are pretty reasonably priced and look and feel great.
I used Xtreme 124 plated hollow points

This is the project I did exactly 8 years ago. I don't think the pictures show up any more though.

Someone on here used to order in 3300 round increments.  Believe that was the limit for flat rate USPS.  When I last ordered from Cabelas, I ordered 2k of Xtreme.  That box was decently heavy, and is about 2/3 what others here would order.  ;D

i have "a friend" who used to order 4-6 flat rate boxes full from xtreme for black friday
he/she/it was not popular with the mail carriers
luckily, allegedly, the post office is right next door...

I do that too.  try and simulate a certain round for a specific purpose.
seems like GD is the gold standard of defensive/law enforcement rounds, at least in my opinion and probably a lot of others too.  lately I've been trying to reproduce that round.
or trying to reproduce a Buffalo bore round, or a Remington 44mag round, or an XTP 357mag round, etc.
they do the R&D, I just copy it.   :shaka:

a quick caveat. I ordered 2000 115grn 9mm from rmrbullets.com, about 35 to 40lbs. not sure i'd want to ship much heavier if you like your mail carrier, or expect the box not to be damaged.
