Collins also took aim at the United States while discussing his songwriting process, revealing that he had saved a provocative phrase he could eventually develop into a song.

"I've got a song that's waiting to be written called ‘Fat People with Guns,’ which is about America, you know, and I just write that phrase down so I don't forget it," Collins said.

Political Discussion / when Obama went to war with the media....

Trump bans media from WH! Trump is anti 1a!
how we forget...
https://apnews.com/article/ffc60235c26c470c9047e0da6ff19f95

THE FACTS: Trump may use extraordinary rhetoric to undermine trust in the press, but Obama arguably went farther — using extraordinary actions to block the flow of information to the public.

The Obama administration used the 1917 Espionage Act with unprecedented vigor, prosecuting more people under that law for leaking sensitive information to the public than all previous administrations combined. Obama’s Justice Department dug into confidential communications between news organizations and their sources as part of that effort.

In 2013 the Obama administration obtained the records of 20 Associated Press office phone lines and reporters’ home and cell phones, seizing them without notice, as part of an investigation into the disclosure of information about a foiled al-Qaida terrorist plot.

AP was not the target of the investigation. But it called the seizure a “massive and unprecedented intrusion” into its news-gathering activities, betraying information about its operations “that the government has no conceivable right to know.”

Political Discussion / CONAms on the ballot
« on: September 24, 2026, 07:28:41 PM »
Got this in email. I didn't read the actual amendments. Hope these interpretations aren't true...

HONOLULU CITY CHARTER AMENDMENTS

Aloha!

Ballots are expected to arrive by October 16th, which is 3 weeks from now.  These ballots will include TWENTY proposed amendments to the Honolulu City Charter (that amounts to TWO 8.5 x 14” double-sided pages).

As usual, each  amendment is written as a well-crafted, harmless sales pitch, with no mention of potential consequences.   Sounds good.  Why not?

~  If #6 passes, every person, every illegal alien, every visitor who sets foot on Hawaiian soil will automatically receive the full constitutional rights of an American citizen, and our police will be required to enforce this.

~  If #16 passes, non-citizen residents will be allowed to serve on boards and commissions, and Oahu’s leadership will consist of people whose loyalty lies with other countries.

~ If #5 passes, Hawaii will adopt rank choice voting.  Does anyone even know what this is?  They don’t explain it because it’s too complicated.  We haven’t even solved our current mail-in vote problem re the thousands of Kauai ballots with missing envelopes.  The Office of Elections refuses to do an audit.  They have even blocked the Election Commission from meeting.  And now they are trying to make their dog & pony show even more complicated.

~ If several of these amendments pass, our tax dollars  that are going to unelected bureaucrats with no required criteria, oversight or accountability, will become a permanent part of our founding document.

For a conservative viewpoint, Brett Kulbis discusses each of these amendments in his substack blog “Duty Is Ours.”  He divided them into four categories.

Part 1 - FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY:

Political Discussion / ConAm: "Food security fund"
« on: September 22, 2026, 05:21:45 PM »
https://www.kitv.com/news/politics/your-voice-your-vote-2026-charter-amendment-1-would-create-dedicated-food-security-fund-on/article_b2dd2cd0-af95-4af9-b5c2-2d3f4d8d6eeb.html

taking from property tax revenue to create a "food security fund" Hawaii FoodBank was one of the author. I heard that the Hawaii Foodbank is another "nonprofit" but has high paid "executives" (wink wink)

Why supporters say it's needed

Hawaii Foodbank President and CEO Amy Miller said about one in three households statewide is food insecure.

“About one in three households in Hawaii is food insecure, meaning there's not enough food in that household for everybody to live a healthy, active lifestyle,” Miller said.

Miller said that can mean families changing the quality of food they buy, skipping meals or going without food entirely.

She said the Foodbank was involved in developing the proposal.

“We were involved with the commission. We helped actually put forth this proposal,” Miller said.

Miller said the Foodbank sees the proposal as a way to make food security a more permanent part of the city's budget.

“By creating a fund that puts food insecurity, food security up there with housing and access to clean air, sorry, clean water and lands, climate resiliency, these are the things that are really important to us,” Miller said.

The Foodbank also points to the connection between food security and Hawaii's agricultural industry.

Miller said:

“The other piece that's exciting about this particular charter amendment is all of those dollars stay local. So it's all for local food. It will help improve our local food systems, our local farmers, our local businesses.”

The proposal is backed by a coalition of more than 60 organizations, according to Miller.
The impact of storms and emergencies

Supporters also said recent storms have highlighted the importance of having a reliable local food supply.

Miller said the Foodbank has seen demand increase after a series of weather and other disruptions.
“We had the Kona Lows, and then Lala, and now Lowell. And I will say, the need just continues to increase,” Miller said.

The city and Foodbank have worked together on emergency food response.

Most recently, the city provided $200,000 to help Hawaii Foodbank source and transport food for Oahu distributions following Tropical Cyclone Lala.

The city also recently helped raise more than 170,000 meals for the Foodbank through its annual food drive.

General Discussion / We don't need another dome...

Lives lost. Tragic sad. From what I read it could have been prevented if someone was arrested for those threats.

https://www.hawaiifreepress.com/Articles-Main/ID/49717/Lawsuit-Years-of-customary-non-enforcement-by-HPD-DPP-and-Liquor-Commission-behind-Waianae-Silvadome-Mass-Shooting

53. Despite repeated complaints about Hiram, HPD never arrested Hiram for any of his threatening, terrorizing or illegal conduct.

…

55. On August 31, 2024, the Silvas rented their illegal dome tent for a graduation party. Guests again consumed alcohol and sped recklessly up the narrow shared driveway on Waianae Valley Road — burning rubber along the very portion used by the Keamo-Carnates.

56. Plaintiffs Cherell Keamo (Decedent), Jessyca Amasiu (Decedent), Courtney Raymond-Arakaki (Decedent), Elisa Carroll, Delano Carroll, and Mark Keamo were attending a party that evening at the Keamo-Carnates’ residence hosted by Rishard and Alison.

57. The Keamo family did not contact HPD on August 31, 2024, and officers did not respond to the Silva dome. Hiram may have become enraged on that date after the Keamo-Carnates confronted him and his family about the speeding up and down the lane. What transpired afterward, and the reason for his escalation despite apologies exchanged between the parties, remains unknown.

58. Following the confrontation, Hiram became enraged and loaded drums of gasoline into the shovel of his front-loader tractor and drove it into the Keamo-Carnates’ home in an attempt to burn it down.

59. The front-loader became lodged beneath the roofline, damaging a portion of the home.

60. Hiram then opened the right-side cab door and fired multiple shots, fatally shooting Cherell Keamo, Jessyca Amasiu, and Courtney Raymond-Arakaki.

61. Hiram then exited through the left-side cab door and shot two additional individuals, Elisa Carroll and her son, Delano Carroll.

62. Hiram’s deadly rampage placed all Plaintiffs in immediate fear for their lives. As Hiram Silva rammed the Keamo-Carnates’ home with the front-loader carrying the two drums of gasoline, Plaintiffs Rishard and Alison Keamo-Carnate were also under direct attack, believing their house was about to be burned down with them inside. When Hiram began firing from the cab at Plaintiffs who were nearby, Mark Keamo, one of the six individuals standing at the front of the home, dove behind a vehicle, urged his cousins to run for cover, and attempted to call 911 but could not get through. The surviving Plaintiffs endured a near-death experience of extraordinary terror and horror, and they remain severely traumatized to this day.

63. Fearing for his life and the lives of others, Rishard retreated into his home and retrieved his lawfully owned handgun.

64. Rishard then returned outside and, acting in self-defense and in defense of others, shot Hiram. Hiram fired back, as evidenced by the bullet holes still visible in the wall on that side of the house. During this sequence, Rishard loaded his lawfully owned handgun twice, running upstairs between clips.

65. On September 2, 2024, HNN reported “Silva was well known for a history of illegal dumping by his company SER Trucking. His large property at the end of the driveway includes a large fabric building which he rented out for sometimes rowdy parties, even when gatherings were banned in the pandemic, which drew multiple complaints from the family he attacked.”

66. HNN further reported, “The shooting is the latest and worst of a season of gun violence in Waianae that has the entire community on edge.”
