Oahu already has a ban.

I'm sure the Byrna usage at the surf shack didn't help.

Swords are ok tho. Given that they are about  the same length, I would rather carry a wakizashi than a baton.

Deadly or dangerous weapon state law. Well depends on the sword or like sharp martial arts weapon.

About 20 years ago my friend called HPD (Oahu) and asked if it was legal for him to carry his kukri with a 15 inch blade.  They told him HI has no blade limit.  He asked what about a Katana? Cop just repeated No blade limit.
