The rifle case video.

Some of you may have seen this before (although it is on the HiFICO YouTube channel this is not carried out or endorsed by HIFICO and is nearly shared for educational purposes)

Last year I walked through Waikiki carrying a rifle case. Whilst doing so I was followed by a man who latter (at my request) identified himself as a DLNR officer. He followed me into stores and a restroom.

He then lost sight of me as he went I to the Waikiki police station to seek assistance.

Shortly after Waikiki was flooded by police officers, when I was spotted by them an officer started following me whilst others got ahead of me. I made the choice to stop and make contact in the shade and be living they may detain me, somewhere I could sit down.

Here’s the video

I understand both sides of this.

-HPD got a call so they have to respond.
-DLNR being proactive and doing what he felt might have been an active shooter (Niklaus Cruz walked into the school with a rifle bag)
-HPD did not violate his rights so kudos

-London doing nothing illegal
-Didn't escalate situation with HPD

So if it were me, I wouldn't have "tested" the law/system.  But who am I to say what someone can do and cannot do that's legal.  If Hawaii had CCW/OC then this wouldn't have been done at all.

In the longer video, no one cared (tourist) because OC/CCW is legal in their states so it's not a big thing.  Or their foreigners and don't know what our gun laws are or even what a gun case looks like.  It took a Hawaii resident to question London.

If someone walks to a sporting goods store and purchases a long gun case and then walks home it is not "testing" any system, but I know what you meant in this case.

If Hawaii had CCW/OC then this wouldn't have been done at all.
Unfortunately that's not true. Last year there was a series of videos by a rights advocate "testing" the open carry law in his town where it was perfectly legal and he was still stopped and abused by the cops, just because they didn't like the law nor his attitude... he was all "uppity" about wanting to exercise his lawful rights. Gotta keep those people in their place, rough 'em up a bit. Let 'em know who's boss, despite whatever the laws may be.

Well said.
