I would add the S&W model 27, 357 magnum
357 was the first magnum handgun cartridge
Dirty Harry sold the model 29, but in the Dirty Harry movie "Magnum Force", bad guy David Soul uses a Colt Python 357 which he also carried on Starsky and Hutch tv series
.357 revolvers also have the distinction of being capable of using .38 Special ammo, which was the caliber most uniformed cops carried before many LE agencies started upgrading to .357s.
.357 revolvers allowed a transition from the .38 firearms without having to dispose of the .38 ammo already on hand. And, for training, .38 ammo was much more cost effective.
My first 2 firearms were .357s -- Charter Arms Bulldog Detective Model w/ 2" barrel and a S&W Model 586 w/ 6" bbl -- both bought new in 1986 +/- a year. We practiced with .38 and .38 +P ammo, mostly wadcutters. For HD, I kept it fed with .38 +P for my wife mainly, to help with the recoil. The Charter Arms was a beast to hold onto with Magnum loads anyway, so there's that.
If I could have just one revolver, a .357 would be my choice -- but a little more than a 2" barrel, please!

I second your nomination. The caliber and firearms that use it are still relevant and served well for decades before the switch to semi-autos.
