I don't really know how many of you guys that read this,
ever carried concealed carried guns.
But the biggest point to the video and most critical is
shot placement, shot placement, shot placement.

The perfect pistol in my mind, for concealed carry, nobody makes;
I'd buy a PPKS in 9mm Parabellum in a second.
It always bothered me that they only make it in Kurtz but
not Parabellum.

Aim small, hit small.

If I had a self defense gun I would use the same gun/caliber as the local police dept.
That would be 9mm in whatever is the police gun du jour.

Not sure that would have been the best advice before HPD upgraded to Glock 17 from the S&W 5906.

The 5906 was in service at HPD since 1990.  Last production year was 1999.

The G17 transition took over 3 years ending about 2016.  The transition to Glocks was complete 7 years after S&W no longer made those 5906 models.

Thus, if someone wanted a new gun between 2000 and 2015-ish, it would have been next to impossible to find a new 5906. Only after the transition to G17 was made public would you have known which PD firearm to get.

Don't get me wrong ... I agree with your reasoning for getting a PD-issued model.  Just pointing out that it's not always so easy or simple.

9mm may be the world standard, but it's not nearly as fun to shoot as a 357 or 44 magnum  :shaka:

I've blasted a LOT of 44 mag, 357, and 9mm.
But I keep coming back to the good old American 45 auto.
To me, it just looks and feels like how a gun ought to be.

I had a Charter Arms Detective Bulldog .357 with a 2" barrel.  I often wondered if a 2" barrel was even necessary, since I didn't see much difference between that and no barrel at all!

Anyway, my wife and I would go to the range and run 100-200 rds of .38 Special and .38 +P, shooting single and double action.  Then, for the last 10-20 rds, we'd run .357 loads.

That .357 finale was to remind us how we did NOT want those in the gun for home defense if we had a choice!  Thank goodness for Pachmayr grips!

We kept .38 +P loaded at home.  Only after I bought a S&W 586 6" did .357s become fun for us!   :shaka:

No one has ever been robbed while open or conceal carrying a Deagle 50 AE, 44, or 357.  Just sayin...

semiauto's i prefer the good old USA 45acp.  that's my primary HD gun with light and laser.  while i'm at home i don't need a lightweight firearm.

i also have a 2" barrel 357 and a 3" one.  yeah, not so fun shooting a lot of magnums out of those, but my 6" I can manage a lot better and one of my most accurate handguns at longer range

Yeah, I see it can put a hole in paper but paper must slow the round down so much it leaves no hole/mark behind the paper.

Shhhh
It's a new bullet I'm testing for DARPA.
I call it the HELP bullet.
Hi-velocity Extremely Low Penetration.
It causes massively demoralizing surface damage, ie gaping skin tearing from a non-lethal projectile.
It was designed to demoralize and permanently scar antifa protesters.
