Howzit guys,

New guy here and to shooting, looking to buy my first firearm after my 21st birthday.  I'll be looking for a lot of guidance throughout the process since it seems rather tedious (and expensive!!! :P ).  Anyway, glad to be on such a great forum.

Aloha ;)

Help me if you can. We just had ANOTHER pharmacy robbed at gunpoint today in Hilo. My daughter in-law was robbed at her gas station at gun point last nov. the employer didnt even report it.We need conceal carry before we the people start dying. Anyone concerned over gun confiscation here soon? I believe its coming, with the socialist Pres. we have, and the communist state gove here.......... I am concerned over the ho-hum response of our elected officials. I am an associate Pastor and wholly believe in self preservation and protecting our families and property. Just found the article.  Wow...just wow.

Quote
Big Island police have charged 28-year-old Paul Santoro with 16 crimes in connection with an attempted robbery of a Hilo pharmacy on Tuesday.

Police say Santoro, armed with a loaded 30.06 bolt-action rifle, entered the pharmacy and demanded drugs.

Employees disarmed Santoro in a struggle.

Santoro was charged Wednesday night with robbery, terroristic threatening, assault and numerous weapons violations.

Police also say the rifle used in the robbery had been taken in a home burglary on Monday, and Santoro was charged additionally burglary and theft.

Santoro's bail was set at $223,300. He is being held in the Hilo police cellblock.

Welcome!

There is a lot of "stuff" to learn if you are new to firearms and shooting sports...in general I would suggest getting some training and making sure safety is always your primary concern. That being said, I think a couple of things need to be said in terms of your statement. First, you can carry a firearm at your place of employment with your employer's consent/permission.

Second, there is a concealed carry bill introduced every year by Sen. Sam Slom. Every year it dies before it can be heard in committe....I haven't checked the status of this year's bill, but I will bet anyone a great deal of money that it didn't make crossover. Which brings me to my final comment: I think you have some legitimate concerns for your safety and for the possible "gun grab" by the government (even if we seem to be getting favorable rulings in "gun cases" throughout the US...) but gun owners for some reason cannot seem to get organized to promote, for example, concealed carry. There is always a lot of talk from gun owners but very little action that would be useful. If you are interested in pursuing participation in the legislative process, especially organizing gun owners on the Big Isle, let me know. FYI, one of your legislators (from the Big Isle) is partially responsible for the death of a bill that would have prohibittted the confiscation of firearms during a disaster....

Again, welcome!

Howzit.

New member here, I found the thread on Hawaii Free Press. I live on Hawaii Island, Hilo side; former Marine, father, hunter, shooter, 2A and CCP advocate. Not a firearm freak per se, I don't want or have a stockpile of firearms, just what I cut my teeth on and feel are good to go for home and personal defense.

I started a thread for fellow 6.8 SPC owners; and gave a shout out to chrome...in Kona, re: his Bushmaster. I'm looking for an "inexpensive" M4 version for the wife. Yes, she can shoot well, as can my keiki.

Nuff 4 now,

Hi all, just wanted to check in from Oahu and say I think you guys are doing a great service in promoting and organizing for the 2a in Hawaii.  Thank you.

I'm not new to firearms (served Army) but new to personal ownership/use in Hawaii.  I'm surprised at how complicated and difficult it can be to legally own/use a personal firearm here.  I think more education and organization will get us closer to common sense.  Now I'm getting off-topic so I'll save it for another thread!

Gary Slider of Handgunlaw.us. I thought I had registered previously as I keep an eye on many Forums seeking information for Handgunlaw.us. Live in WV and have been cataloging the states firearm laws for years. Started with Mike Gawley (Spelling) who lives in Hawaii. It was a one page deal and back then info was tough to find. Much easier today. Retired at age 57 and love retirement. If you wish to contact me the easiest way is to go to www.handgunlaw.us and click on contact us at the bottom of the page or admins@handgunlaw.us.  Put something in the Subject line about laws or firearms as I get a ton of spam. You guys are in a tough place for firearms. Wish you the best in your efforts.

Welcome Gary, nice to have you here. I was the one that provided some of your concealed carry statistics for Hawaii on THR.

2aHawaii,

Nice site.  We recently moved back to Hawaii after living in the states for the last 17 years.  We were nested with some of the local shooting communities in Arizona and Texas.  Hawaii is paradise, but the Gun Laws are a bit scary.   :o   It's a shame this weeks free shoot at the Schofield Rod and Gun Club was cancelled.  I just can't belive we have not be able to practice our presentations since moving here.  Once agian, it's a bit fustrating but it is what it is.  Just glad to be here!

Howzit,

I am one off the lucky few who uncle sam has stationed on the Islands more than once.  Off and on for 13+ years.  I am currently in North Carolina but hoping to return as soon as possible.  I may not stay on the islands no more but the RIGHT is for us all.  Besides HPD still got two of my guns and since I no have orders and am still an Alabama resident I can't get them back, +1 for bad divorces and then to quickly to do the P-Work to get My Savage and my Win 1300 Back.

Questions to the Group.

1. Any OJ braddahs on?

2. Any Marine or Former on?

3. Any Nalo boi's on?

Mahalo, now lets talk story!

Mike
