Friends and give them ammo  :shaka:

Avoid xring.  Only other option would be 808gun club.  Or wait till shooting events are back in kokohead.

I'm willing to wager a few guys here may have what you're looking for, & be happy to let you sample if you bring your own ammo. It's worth a shot.

Shoots, thanks for the heads up. Wish my buddies had some of the models I'm looking at...maybe I'll have to stop by 808 GC one day. Thanks!  :shaka:

Good idea, I just feel bad asking/using other people's gear.

finding the gun you want is one thing
finding the gun in stock at a store or online is another thing   :shaka:

Haha raja that, at least prices seem to be coming down a bit. Not pre-rona prices but it is what it is. Ammo on the other hand...

That or stuff like HDF open shoots or HRA/LIFE fun shoots where if folks know in advance, they can bring the gun of interest.  There are also many on this board who do the basic pistol class, but could adjust for say basic handgun trial session.

Of those listed (HK, CZ, M&P, Walther), any specific models?

Why not list some of those handguns your are interested in trying?

You might find someone with that gun (or something better) who is willing to let you try it -- particularly if you help with the ammo cost.

You might luck out and find someone who not only is willing to go shooting with you, but they might also be interested in offering to sell you the handgun if you decide you like it.

I primarily want to try:

HK 45 Compact
HK P30
CZ P01

And maybe:

Walther PPQ in 9mm or 45
and maybe the M&P M2.0 Compact

Appreciate everyone's replies  :shaka:

i have a P30
it's far from stock though
well worn springs and lightened hammer spring

i've only seen one HK45c at the range, and the owner isn't on this forum
there may be a couple here with a P01

PPQ there are a few on this forum in 9mm, haven't seen any .45
M&P compact 2.0 not sure

How do you like the P30? Gripes about the stock ones if you can remember?

I own PPQ 9 in 4 and 5” models

I’ve shot all the rest except the CZ P01. I have shot a bunch of CZs. I like both their steel (SP01) models and polymer models (P10c).

Lots of personal preference, so yeah, good to shoot if possible.

love it
my oldest and most shot gun
trigger pull is long and heavy with the stock hammer spring and firing block pin spring
it's well worn in and light now
replaced the slide stop lever to the safety version (shorter) because newbies to hk always ride it and the slide doesn't lock back on empty

Assuming you mean between the PPQ and P10c, I like both. I’ve come full circle and back to shooting Glock for the most part. But I’d buy/own a P10C if I was in the market for a polymer 9.

That’s said, they are on opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of grip feel. The PPQ rounder and smoother texture and the P10C blockier and very aggressive texture. Personal preference, and mind is generally forward the more aggressive side like the Glock Gen 4 and 5. But no issue against the PPQ.

The PPQ will be close to the HK P30 in terms of grip feel.

I would suggest you throw in 1 or 2 more mainstream options like a Glock or Sig or S&W just so you can have a backup plan or option "C"
you might have better luck finding something in the above manufacturers
I have been shopping around lately and there are not many options out there right now

Right on, thanks for the info - I'll just have to get my hands on them and see which feels best. I'm a 1911 guy trying to find something a little more compact.

I'm open to other suggestions, these are just the ones that have caught my eye. Not a fan of Glocks, so that's why I didn't list em. Not in a rush to get one either, I'm happy with my 1911s.
