The gun show this time around was kinda junk.

So like I'm not the brightest bulb in the room but I noticed…
Try being more specific in your comments if you are going to quibble about which court and which cases.
Otherwise, the "Aloha Spirit" ruling is applicable as it states that Supreme Court rulings are only suggestions with no mandate to be followed regardless of the 2A case in question
i.e. Bruen
Is your memory that short? Nothing "sudden" about it.
Try thinking back 2 years ago ...

Yes because a white judge not from Hawai'i and appointed by Ige wouldn't possibly misuse Hawaiian culture and history to justify infringing on people's 2nd amendment rights.
You might not be aware of the fact that the spirit of aloha law was passed into law in 1986 and is a cherry picked version of Hawaiian principles and values.
You might also not be aware that being armed was a part of the traditional Hawaiian identity (or at least until we became westernized), in part due to it was common for most Hawaiian men to be armed with at least a pāhoa and/or 'ihe. Weapon control only really became a legal reality under Kauikeaouli and later expanded upon by Alexander Liholiho and especially the territorial government.
If you actually knew about Hawaiian history, you would know that this painting, "Maniere de Punir de Nort un Coupable Aux Iles Sandwich" By Jacques Arago, is actually depicting capital punishment against a criminal, not some innocent person subjugated by a tyrannical government. As a matter of fact, Kānāwai Mamalahoe was still very much enforced in 1822 and the individual being executed was most likely being executed for murder or significant property crimes that compromised the safety or well-being of the populace.
So again, if people want to ridicule the state of self defense in Hawai'i, ridicule the correct demographic that made Hawai'i like this and still controls most of the government.
