Under the law enacted in 2024, heavy commercial vehicles may only use the left lane when:

They match the speed of existing traffic
They are overtaking and passing

In other words, in any normal driving circumstance.
On Oahu the left lane is the slow lane.

Theres a few east asian countries you can live well off of USA retirement.  Vietnam, PI, Thailand, etc...For Thailand, their culture thinks it's bad juju if someone died in the home.  So the sale of it is harder.  Which causes a lower price.

I like Vietnamese and Thai food much better than Filipino food, but would move to PI because most people in the city area speak English and they have lots of good Vietnamese and Thai restaurants.

I also would not sell my house here.  My daughter lives there and could easily make the house payment with a quarter of her take home pay.  I would rent a nice condo with AC.  One of those buildings I see with stores, restaurants on the first floor.  I would sort of live out of a suitcase in case I gotta flee the country in case their political system got bad and I had to return to the US.

If not for my wife's poor health, I would have moved to the Philipines already.  A friend of mine who grew up in Vietnam and regularly goes back to visit said you could live really well in any SE Asian country on $2800 USD a month.  I like the Philipines because a lot of people speak English.  No tax on tips not going to help my dsughter much.  She makes about $150k as a server at the Hilton.

My friend who lives in the red tsunami zone in Kailua did not evacuate. His wife was in a panic so he loaded the car with important papers and valuables and sent her to a friend's house up the hill.

He stayed home and watched the news.  He figured if he saw a big wave hit Kauai which is about 103 miles from Oahu, he could jump on his bicycle and in 7 minutes be in the safe zone.

Makes perfect sense when you think about it.  It will take a wave traveling 500 mph a little over 10 minutes to get from Kauai to Oahu.

Well after all the excitement, nothing happened again.  After a few more times people will get complacent.

Hmmm, if 75.8 years is average for American male, lucky I stay live Hawaii which is 77.6 years.

Today I make 75 years 3 months.  I look on da bright side, I might not have to go through the hassle of renewing my driver license.

I might expire before it does, although I was hoping to outlive my brother who will be 86 in September.

I stopped watching The Late Show a few episodes after Letterman left.  Wasn’t the same.  Leno was a good replacement for Carson, but after that the guys that followed couldn’t match them.

QS,
You set a good example for your kids.

His parents also owned a townhome at Hampton Court but I think he said it was only 2 bedrooms and sort of small.

I guess he wanted to buy his “forever” home on the first crack instead of “upgrading” like a lot of us.

He also owns a studio in one of the newer condos right across the street from Ala Moana SC….im guessing it costed like 300-400k.  I think he now brown bags lunch everyday vs eating out like he used too

I don’t want a big house after living in a 3671 sq ft house.  More area to  keep clean.

My dream home would be something like 1000 sq ft with a big kitchen and 2bed/2bath

attached to a 4000-6000 sq ft warehouse with 16 ft high ceiling.

I am going to start making my own long term survival food with stuff I like to eat.  I finally broke down and ordered a Harvest Right med size freeze dryer from Home Depot.  With 2 years 0% interest, I couldn't pass it up.  It was something I wanted for a long time.  It should be here by the end of the month.

If I left a firearm loaded and unlocked in my garage, and a kid wanders in, do you think there would be no criminal elements for my mistake if the kid commits a crime with it -- like pointing it at police?
The Prosecutor will just say, “No charges. Everyone makes mistakes.  Flapp is a good boy.”

Then you will get a call from HPD asking if you want to pick up your firearm or have it delivered.

One of the reasons police stopped using Rottweilers is because of their 328 lbs bite force.  That is enough to crush and break human bones.

In addition, Shepherds and Malinois’ are easier to train and have a longer attention span.  I had a GSD before, but I like Rotties more.

If zoned ag, can shoot as long as bullet doesn’t go out of your property.  Where I live in Puna, neighbors don’t care and gunshots are common.

I don’t shoot firearms for target practice anymore.  I only shoot live things, pigs and other feral animals that I don’t want on my property.

For SD practice, since my SD pistol is a Glock 19, I use a Umarex G19 clone, that uses CO2 and cheap BBs.

When I was in high school on Molokai, there was one kid who was one of 16. Another was 1 of 21.

I would disagree.  each dog gets a handler.  So 1 dog, 1 cop.  So u still gotta hire more officers.  Unless you have multiple dogs released, but IDK if that is possible and keep their obedience.

You misunderstood what I said, which was it often takes 2 or 3 cops to take an uncooperative person into custody, but 1 cop and one dog and the person becomes very cooperative.

So instead of hiring more cops, have the cops already on duty get a K9 partner instead of a human.  You don’t pay dogs a salary, give them vacation time, retirement pension, car allowance etc.

Guys who like make big body tarun tarun to a human officer not going do that to a growling K9 officer unless they looking to get a very painful dog bite.

Take the Nuuanu case where 3 cops couldn’t apprehend that big black guy and he was beating the crap out of them till they used deadly force.  That guy would have had his hands full fighting a trained police dog.

From what I have seen on recorded video, it often takes 2 or 3 cops to apprehend one uncooperative person. Like was mentioned, Tasers and pepper spray

often times don’t work.  But I have also seen one cop and a police dog and suddenly the suspect gets very cooperative.  Getting and training more dogs would be

cheaper than hiring more officers.

With the cost of hollow point ammo, I won't shoot an unarmed person who is fleeing.

I'll just let my Rottweilers chase him and play with him for awhile.
