Went to the range finally. Arrived there a little past noon. As soon as I got there, RO gave me a bench. About the RO's, they all was nice. They help me and my family a lot. Got some tips from them too. My brand new Dewalt stapler was jamming on me when I was making my targets. So the RO's was kind enough to lend me theirs. The target stand I made fit perfect when I did the dry fit by the bench. But when I went out there, the target holders, two of them was kinda mushroomed. Looks like some people took a hammer and smashed them in. Though I got it to fit with a little force. I even plumed it with my torpedo level lol.. Anyways, some other nice old guy there and the RO help my daughter out with the bench. Cause she short so they flipped the seat bench over that had a little boost on it. Never new it could do that.. lol. Learned a lot today and was fun.
So anyways, I bought some factory ammo for my family to shoot so they can shoot some. I shot my reloads after. I picked up some BH 77 grainers. My Labradar was registering 2440-2460 fps at 50 yards. Btw, I gotta do my load development at 50. Labradar can track up to 125 yards depending on caliber. I called the company and because I'm loading with .223 77 grain BT's, it'll only track those 40-70 yards. Though never had a problem with the unit at 50 yards. Every shoot registered. I just gotta remember to press the arm button again if I past 10 seconds lol.. Well, I can change that in settings. One thing about the BH's ammo too is before I went down to the range, I measured the COAL on them and man are they all over the place. Not much though, from 2.24-2.25. Probably don't make that much difference I think. Grouping was ok I guess. I not one expert. Seems like around 1.5 at 50 yrds. Gotta practice some more. Anyways, when I did some of my reloads, the grouping change and became much tighter. So far, I got really tighter groups. But again still only 50, But the reloads shoot so much better then the factory BH. Still not done with my reloads yet though. Range was closing. So next week again. About the rifle frames, I made two frames at 80" max this past weekend. Cost was about 15$ for 4 2x2 8 footers. Anyways, is there a certain amount and way of targets can be placed on the frame? And can the cardboard backing be stapled from the top to bottom? Well before the feet that goes in the pipes of course. I know can't be no human or animal type shaped targets too if I remember.  Back when I use to go shooting at the pistol side. I thought I read somewhere that can't place the targets on top of each other. But side by side? Just want to be ready when I get there this Sunday. Might go Saturday too though probably at around noon. Wish I could have made it there this past Sunday...

I checked out the range today in the late morning. At the rifle side with my family. Had some talk with the RO's. They was friendly and explained about all the do's and don'ts. Can't wait to come out this Sunday. Hope I get to meet some of you there.

I've been to the range long, long time ago. Only the pistol side though as I own a few pistols. But never the rifle side. Gonna make this one active hobby from now on. Always wanted too but just never have time. Now my kids is all grown and in their teens, I get time now.. lol.. TooFewPews, I'll do a review of the Laradar. Anyone like try em out I no mind too. This probably goin be one odd question especially since I've never been on the rifle range before. Anyways, Is there any closer distance for the targets that can be set at besides 100 yards? My Labradar (chrono) can only give readings from 40-60 yards if reloading with .223 boat tails. And depending on the weight too. If get 50 yards, goin be perfect for my load development. And for me first timer practice shooting too. After I find the most accurate load, and I'm sure most of it will depend on the shooter..lol, then I go practice with the 100. Gonna zero in with factory kind ammo first. Practice with those for a little while then use the reloads..

Getting ready to come out to the rifle range to shoot my rifle for the first time. But I still gotta zero in. Do I need a rifle vise for zeroing? I have a bipod that I can attach and remove that has the piccatinny rail on one of my rifle if that's enough?. But I have another rifle that gotta zero in too that cannot put one bipod on.

Just don't do like I've seen the other newbs do at the range and point the rifle in every direction, carry it uncased past the yellow line, or run out to set your target during live fire (true story).
