This is by far one of those horror stories that I fear happening to anyone. I sincerely hope you get your firearm back ASAP.  :shaka:

where you going to send your VP9, drak?
hkparts.net has a couple of springs that they are selling, but they are getting mixed reviews on hkpro.com

Was thinking of sending it to Damon Young over at SSVi_LLC, from the custom pic that you posted a while back.  Expensive though lol,  could almost buy two more VP9's.

Hey guys - thanks for all the input  :shaka:

Finally got to stop by HPD firearms today during my break - their clock must be fast because it was 5 mins before 3pm but the door was already closed. Anyways got to talk to one of the sergeants there and he said I will have to go through the two weeks waiting period and background check  ??? I think that that is total B.S.  :grrr:

I have a friend who is a detective at HPD and he is trying to help me out but kind of said that firearms have "procedures" they must follow before they can release my firearm. I will stop by firearms first thing tomorrow morning and will update.

Also called UPS and they are investigating why and how the package was delivered to the wrong address, they are suppose to call me back today.

Thanks Mauidog for more clarification.Interestingly, why the store opened the package though it has a wrong recipient name.

Actually called the the St.John's store and talked to the manager - they said they received about 16 boxes in that UPS delivery and just thought it was one of their boxes. The warehouse staff opened it and freaked, I just wish they called UPS instead of HPD. It would have been so much simpler if they had contacted UPS to pick up the package and deliver it to the right address.  ???

That sucks I don't see why they are making you have to go through the 2week background check senario being that the firearm is already registered to you, that sounds like a bunch of BS. As for why ups delivered it to the wrong place I would guess it was drivers error. I've had ups deliver wrong packages to my shop before. I always look at the shipping labels and will tell ups that the package is not mines, to bad the store that your pistol was delivered didn't do the same.. Good luck on your speedy recovery of your pistol!

How can they make you apply for a permit (same process anyway) for a gun that's already registered to you.

Mind Blown.

God luck for a speedy recovery.

This is exactly the kind of story the local news would love to get a chance to tell:

Law-abiding gun owner punished by HPD for UPS and local retailers' mistakes.

The gun is registered in your name right? The address is correct?
And you have documentation that you paid for an out of state service?

An individual firearm owner may ship a firearm to a FFL licensed dealer or licensed manufacturer for repairs or customization. The licensed party who does the work may then ship the firearm back to the owner's address when repairs or customization have been completed.

This is correct.

Was there a crime? No.
Pistol belongs to you? yes. You have registration? yes.
SO why are they holding it and making you go through another waiting period for a pistol you legally acquired under HI law. I smell a lawsuit. Enough to buy another pistol or two.

HPD does a similar thing when someone has a frivolous TRO placed on them and it gets thrown out by the court.  The registered owner who had their firearms confiscated has to go through the 2 week background check just to get their property back.

HRA, NRA and other orgs can hop in and get a lawyer - sue for rights violations. I think local news won't publish as this has nothing to do with officer shootings, perceived racism, officer misconduct etc. this involves a 2a right and news don't like the 2nd just the 1st.

In the current environment locally and nationally with LE criticism, I'm sure HPD would love to avoid any more bad press.  And the press will be interested if it's presented as another failure at HPD, since they have had so many recently.

having to apply and wait 2 weeks is total BS
firearms div do not always abide by the proper rules or protocol
even when its their own protocol and rules, somehow they dont need to abide by it.
i've shown them their own rules written down by them in black and white, and the officer still said it was wrong.
this isn't the first time, and it wont be the last.
it just sucks for us law abiding citizens that we have to go by some made up crap by some soup nazi's down there just bc they got a badge.
I feel for you, bro.
i've been screwed by firearms div. more than once.  nh.
and i wont be surprised if they screw me again.  its just what they do.

ok - so went to HPD today and figured if I'm going to have to wait two weeks I might as well make the most of it. So i renewed my long gun permit, bought a new pistol and applied to get my firearm released from evidence. At first when I told them about getting back my firearm in evidence they kind of took the I'm guilty till I prove my innocence stance and also told me that I am breaking a federal law by having the firearm sent directly back to me and not through an FFL  :wtf: After I mentioned that my detective friend already looked into the shipping procedure and is helping me out and that I had already spoke to their sergeant yesterday, they stopped questioning me  ::) I bet if I didn't have someone inside helping me out I would probably have to contact the ATF to let HPD know that I did not break any laws.

One messed up thing is that even though they have my gun in evidence and they know it's mine, officially there is no case report in their computer system  ??? the officer who wrote the initial report did it manually and by pen and paper and so it has not be inputed into their computer system, so even though this happened on Monday they have nothing in their computer system about my case number or firearm

I hope there won't be any surprises when I go to pick it up in 2 weeks.

Did you ask them to explain why you need to do a permit app and wait 2 weeks for a gun that SHOULD have been delivered to your door, and that you are NOT transferring ownership?

To me, it sounds like they don't understand this is not a new online purchase, but rather a gun you simply sent to the factory for service.
