Call your house reps and if you already did call another!
We need to keep the pressure on because guess what, it's going to be the same thing next year.

Hmm. Almost sounds like Trump might actually understand why militias are important.

I guess getting shot by deep state helps.
If the news was lying to me I would have heard about it on the news.

Here's an update, https://www.civilbeat.org/2025/04/in-last-minute-drama-legislature-shelves-bill-to-ban-assault-weapons/
key excerpts:

Senate
Quote
Richards and Sen. Brandon Elefante said at the briefing that they would work on the assault weapons bill over the interim. Technically, SB 401 remains alive for the 2026 session or if a special session is held later this year, as seems likely.

House:
Quote
House lawmakers also recommitted the assault weapon bill, shelving it for the year it since it could not pass without the support of the Senate.

Quote
Other than the gun and HECO bills, there was little discussion of dozens of other measures approved Wednesday. The House and Senate will reconvene Friday for final votes on the last day of the session.

House Vice Speaker Linda Ichiyama noted the size of the workload in the restricted four-month session.

“We can always do better, but we do have real constraints that we have to work with,” she said.

Even more constraints may be coming from the Trump administration in the form of federal funds, so lawmakers were warned to keep dates open in November for a special session.

Just imagine how much more genuine work they'd get done if they didn't waste so much time trying to pass more unnecessary gun laws.

They brag about having the lowest gun crime rate in the US because of their strict gun laws, but then tell us we need more gun laws because people aren't safe.

i don't think they comprehend the obvious paradox.
The reasonable man adapts himself to the world;
the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

It is likely a special session is coming. There are various reasons for this, but the AGs office is currently ironing out language so this ban will seem constitutional. It is coming 99%.

All of the island Mayors need to weigh in on this and tell us their positions. They will certainly try tonskirt the issue by saying it is a state problem, but it is a county issue as well when it comes to enforcement. One thing is known, Blangiardi, Bissen, Almaeda, and Kawakami are smooth talkers and go back on their word.(and really love developer donations).

I know a guy who worked for him and said he needs a wheelbarrow to help carry his ego around with him. He’s very easy to rile up and has to work very hard to stay in control of his temper. There was a clip of him confronting a citizen journalist asking tough questions where he almost lost it and got physical. Would be a shame if someone pushed him too far in front of a camera and people got to see what he’s really all about.

i've told the story previously, but he got in my face while we were talking calmly, and i didn't back down
he then broke off the confrontation by saying "i feel intimidated"
when his whole cabinet was standing behind him and there were 10-12 cops in the room
those of you who have met me IRL would know that i am not an intimidating figure, especially to an east coast former college athlete...

The real problem will be Kawakami. He is tight with Schatz and goofy mainland democrats funded by big development. Kawakami is being primed for Governor. He will take Kouchis spot in the legislature, get more Oahu recognition and then run for Governor when Green is termed out.

This is the whole reason the Leg did not pass pay to play. These dudes make too much money off special interest donations. They need developer $ to bankroll Kawakami from Mayor to Legislator to Governor.

He was threatening you with a red flag for daring to disagree with him and not cowering at his feet like a lowly peasant should.

That’s the real reason red flags were invented.
