Surviving The Upcomming dystopia
« on: April 12, 2021, 03:02:50 PM »
My brother has sent My Hawkins .54 Rifle to me.
I haven't done Black powder in 30 years or so.

I'm prepping to make my own Blackpowder,
since we can't get it here.
And as I see you can't buy any,
I'll have to make my own percussion caps.
One chemical that seems hard to make or get
in Hawaii is Antimony Sulfide.

Are any of you guys looking into this level of Hawaii
and US Democrats interference with gun stuff?
Do y'all have any ideas?

Level of interference is defined as no ammo, no
ammo components, no powder, and Government
prohibition of the components to make the stuff.

Thanks for any inputs.

Pyrodex here, I have extra percussion caps if you need. Just got to figure out the mailing stuff. I shoot a 50 cal CVA Hawken. On Oahu caps & powder at SEC, balls and other stuff at Windward gun shop sand island. J Hara had some stuff but not much for older black powder rifles. I think there is a j Hara on big island. You can ask them.

mannyCA  (YouTube)  has info on using small pistol primers and vinyl tubing on BP nipples.  I got the tubing but haven't tried yet.

I've made BP by using the rock tumbler and compressing into cookies method.  Downside of my home made is that it was fluffy and burned dirtier than commercial black powder.  Got the best results (power and speed of ignition)  with Hau wood and worst with mail order black willow charcoal.  Hope pyrodex or commercial black can be found on the BI.
Said and done, home made was not worth the hassle and I was lucky to find some goex black powder for my flintlock to light off.
