also contact senate president kouchi...
I called my senator for district 14, Donna Mercado Kim. Had a long talk with the person who takes message for her. And listened to everything I had 10 mins opposing this HB401 bill. She was very polite and said she'll relay the message.

This is where it also gets confusing.. Even though this bill is aimed at semi-auto rifles and semi-auto shot guns. There is also bolt action AR style rifles. That has folding stocks, has detachable mags, threaded barrels, threaded muzzle, pistol grips, and thumbholes. Are these type of firearms affected too? What about muzzle brakes? I mean it's like flash hiders/ suppressors (if that what it means). This bill seems like a sneeky backdoor altogether. friggin ban everything already. I mean anything that can become a weapon. Knives, hammer, bats, automobiles, pens, pencils, forks, spoons. Oh wait, all these is utterly useless without a operator.

   (3)  That accepts a detachable magazine or that may be readily modified to accept a detachable magazine and has one or more of the following characteristics:

          (A)  A folding, telescoping, or detachable stock, or a stock that is otherwise foldable or adjustable in a manner that operates to reduce the length, the size, or any dimension, or otherwise enhances the concealability of the weapon;

          (B)  A pistol grip or thumbhole stock;

          (C)  Any feature capable of functioning as a protruding grip that can be held by the non‑trigger hand;

          (D)  A flash suppressor;

          (E)  A shroud that is attached to or partially or completely encircles the barrel and permits the shooter to hold the firearm with the second hand without being burned, but excluding a slide that encloses the barrel;

          (F)  A bayonet mount;

          (G)  A grenade launcher; or

          (H)  A threaded barrel capable of accepting a barrel extender, flash suppressor, forward hand grip, or silencer.

     "Assault shotgun" means a semiautomatic shotgun that has one or more of the following characteristics:

     (1)  Accepts a detachable magazine;

     (2)  A revolving cylinder;

     (3)  A pistol grip or thumbhole stock;

     (4)  Any feature capable of functioning as a protruding grip that can be held by the non-trigger hand;

     (5)  A folding, telescoping, or detachable stock, or a stock that is otherwise foldable or adjustable in a manner that operates to reduce the length, the size, or any dimension, or otherwise enhances the concealability of the weapon;

Aw man.. So say this bill passes, do we get to shoot our semi rifles at the range? I’m getting kinda on the paranoid of buying any firearm related stuff now. How bout bolt action styles rifles with ar style grips (im actually was about to purchase another one with a 10 round mag)? Will those type of firearms be affected too? I mean who knows nowadays with all this infringements here in Hawaii. Just like they like band everything.

 Does this bill affect detachable mags use in bolt action rifles too?

Reloading / Re: Mark 7 automated presses apex, evo, revo

My son was almost gonna get one of those a few months ago. But caliber changes is a bit confusing and somewhat kinda of a lot just to change out. So he ended up with the 750 with bullet and case feeder. But that mark 7 is badass though.

One of the guys at my work place was telling me that getting a new HE card does not qualify for a PTA for a longarm.

He said the “new” handgun affidavit (training includes suicide/mental health/domestic abuse??) is needed for PTA for a longarm.

When I read the hpd requirements it seems like the HE card is enough to get a PTA for a longarm but the HE card can’t be > 4 years old

I’m wondering if the HPD site is not up to date or did my coworker miss understand something

I’ll call/email Suzy at HPD too

Your correct. Handgun ed is enough for long gun/ shotgun PA. I actually went this morning to renew my long gun permit before it expires. Well they told me to get all the forms to fill out. And come back with the forms and my hunters ed or handgun ed affidavit 14 days before my permit expires. I just have no clue why have to be 14 days. So basically that’s in 2 weeks from now. Before the count down of 14 days start. I’m soo confused. Why couldn’t they just do it like the following day when I bring back all paper work?

Pistols cannot be lent to someone else, unless you are at the range with them.

You will have to transfer the pistol to him with a permit to acquire.
Thanks zippz.. now I know  :shaka:

Legal and Activism / Lending pistol question
« on: October 06, 2024, 03:14:44 PM »
Is it unlawful to lend my son my pistol to the range? He’s a registered pistol and long gun owner himself too. I wanted him to do reloads for me at the range since I’ve been busy. He also wanted to try my pistol at the competitions at Koko head that he goes to regularly. But I don’t have time to go with him that he wants to try use my pistol. Thanks in advance..

Think that’s the same deal we had Labor Day weekend. So me and my son pulled the trigger on one with other accessories. Including quick change kit for 223. Just finished setting it up for 9mm. Also so got whatever recommended upgrades during build process. Gotta tidy up the wires still. So far it’s an awesome press. Probably add the autodrive if get sales by thanksgiving weekend or Black Friday.

So I’m assuming this means, can apply for pta for pistol first . Instead of buying the pistol first, not taking it home, apply for pta till you get em. Then pickup the pistol?

I recently used Modern Warriors. They charged me no tax and free shipping to FFL. I called them though to make the order. Done initial contact through email. Then called them to do the order. From order to when it got to FFL, 4 days..
