General Discussion / Re: Just need a new hunters ed card for long arm PTA right??
« on: March 04, 2025, 02:34:42 PM »One of the guys at my work place was telling me that getting a new HE card does not qualify for a PTA for a longarm.Your correct. Handgun ed is enough for long gun/ shotgun PA. I actually went this morning to renew my long gun permit before it expires. Well they told me to get all the forms to fill out. And come back with the forms and my hunters ed or handgun ed affidavit 14 days before my permit expires. I just have no clue why have to be 14 days. So basically that’s in 2 weeks from now. Before the count down of 14 days start. I’m soo confused. Why couldn’t they just do it like the following day when I bring back all paper work?
He said the “new” handgun affidavit (training includes suicide/mental health/domestic abuse??) is needed for PTA for a longarm.
When I read the hpd requirements it seems like the HE card is enough to get a PTA for a longarm but the HE card can’t be > 4 years old
I’m wondering if the HPD site is not up to date or did my coworker miss understand something
I’ll call/email Suzy at HPD too
