So about 2030 hrs tonight someone fired about a dozen rounds over a 3 minute span.  Sounded pretty close.  It is now 2230 hrs, 2 hours later and no cops.  I guess nobody bothered to call. I know I didn't.   I love it. Just part of the life in rural Puna.  No wonder cops don't like to come here.  They could get shot and nobody would even come out to see what was going on.

At what point in your life did you realize the rest of the world viewed you as old?  For me, it was when people started calling me uncle.  I always had those I knew call me uncle from when I was in my 30s, but they were like 15 or more years younger than me.  But when people you don't know, like store clerks and others almost always call you uncle, damn, you realize you are stinking old.

I doubt he will be issuing CCW permits.  I really think giving one person complete control over what is supposedly a constitutional right is unconstitutional.

This poor woman suffered devastating injuries while being attacked by 3 dogs.  A man was able to chase the dogs away by firing a gun in the air (not a good idea not knowing where your bullet will land). Here in Puna, I see lots of loose dogs, many chase after the car when you pass. I also see people walking without even a stick in their hand.  This got me thinking,  what could I do to stop an attack like this without a gun? I am not about to go against 3 dogs with only a knife and/or a stick. Since we cannot legally carry a gun in Hawaii, what would you do? Call 911 and remain safely in your vehicle?

Didn't know you needed a license to braid hair in Hawaii and 4 other states. 3 women with combined 60 years of experience suing state of Idaho because the state wants them to get a cosmetology license which can cost $20k with the schooling required. The kick in da ass is these schools don't teach how to braid black hair, which is what these women do.Another ridiculous regulation

How many of you have a FS membership?  I have been a member since 2013 and recently got a long email explaining why they will now charge a $500 yearly membership fee and are converting previously held assets to FS$.  I have enough FS$ to maintain a membership for 4 years.  When I use up all my FS$ I don’t think I will bother with them anymore.  You can now use those $ to buy ammo there as well as anything in the Pro Shop.  Previously certain items could not be paid for using FS credits. They got involved with some deal to build that resort which is now years behind schedule and costing them millions in legal fees.  I knew they were in trouble financially when they were always coming up with higher levels of membership with innovative names.  Patron, Commander, Master, Founder, Knight, etc. I was even donating a small amount each month for their legal costs, which I am now going to stop.  At one time I was seriously thinking of retiring on the mainland and moving to Pahrump.  Then I could go to FS every week if I wanted to.  After looking at everything, I am better off staying where I am with a handgun range in my own backyard.  Being retired and having a daughter that works in Hilo and who lives with us, I don’t even need to go shopping anymore, well unless it is for guy things like HD, HPM, gun shops etc.

Well, my prediction of rail costing $10B when the expert prediction was $7.4B, got blown out of the water today. New estimate is $12.4B and 10 more years to complete.  At this time I will make another prediction.  $17B will be wasted and it will not be completed in the next 12 years.  By completed I mean all the way to Ala Moana like the original plan called for and HART is still trying to accomplish.
