Political Discussion / Goodbye Governor Greed?
« on: Today at 03:20:59 PM »
Uh oh. Here comes the next scandal!
Kinda looks like Green was running a scam out of the Governors office.

https://www.kitv.com/news/state-audit-questions-more-than-13-7-million-in-spending-on-hawai-is-kauhale-housing/article_8056dfc9-b122-47b4-bf78-105c862f3774.html

If the word gets out to the Ainokeas and Trump stops the steal then Gary Cordery just might have a shot.

This obsession with safety is crushing the human spirt.

Look at what's happening to Japan. They regulated themselves into sterility and their suicide rate is off the chart.

So like I'm not the brightest bulb in the room but I noticed…

Careful. That’s how it starts.

One day you’re a blissful idiot just going along with the program, then the next you’re trying to point out the obvious danger to people and they hate you for it.

Ever notice how our government loves to use crises in order to roll out pre packaged ‘solutions’ that were obviously planned long in advance?

As long as there are mail-in ballots breaking the chain of custody, the election results can never be confirmed.

Multiple major hurricanes.

Two damaging storms most likely a third.

This year is one for the record books.

Try being more specific in your comments if you are going to quibble about which court and which cases.

Otherwise, the "Aloha Spirit" ruling is applicable as it states that Supreme Court rulings are only suggestions with no mandate to be followed regardless of the 2A case in question

i.e. Bruen

Do I need to run all my posts through a "Flapp filter" just to make sure you won't be offended by them?

Is your memory that short? Nothing "sudden" about it.

Try thinking back 2 years ago ...

Two different cases and courts.

Please try and pay better attention.

This seems like a bigger deal than the Alaska Purchase, because we basically got it for free.

Not sure why this isn't in the media.

OH WAIT.... we know exactly why!

All of a sudden Bruen doesn’t matter anymore.

General Discussion / Re: weekend stabbings

Yes because a white judge not from Hawai'i and appointed by Ige wouldn't possibly misuse Hawaiian culture and history to justify infringing on people's 2nd amendment rights.

You might not be aware of the fact that the spirit of aloha law was passed into law in 1986 and is a cherry picked version of Hawaiian principles and values.

You might also not be aware that being armed was a part of the traditional Hawaiian identity (or at least until we became westernized), in part due to it was common for most Hawaiian men to be armed with at least a pāhoa and/or 'ihe. Weapon control only really became a legal reality under Kauikeaouli and later expanded upon by Alexander Liholiho and especially the territorial government.

If you actually knew about Hawaiian history, you would know that this painting, "Maniere de Punir de Nort un Coupable Aux Iles Sandwich" By Jacques Arago, is actually depicting capital punishment against a criminal, not some innocent person subjugated by a tyrannical government. As a matter of fact, Kānāwai Mamalahoe was still very much enforced in 1822 and the individual being executed was most likely being executed for murder or significant property crimes that compromised the safety or well-being of the populace.

So again, if people want to ridicule the state of self defense in Hawai'i, ridicule the correct demographic that made Hawai'i like this and still controls most of the government.

It sounds like Kam IV was actually a decent statesman and tried to pull things back together after the mismanagement of his predecessors, but the whole-national unity thing was broken enough that could no longer trust his subjects with weapons.

An armed populace who supports their government is the best deterrent against invasion, but it also means hard limits on the ability to centralize control.
