Firearms and Accessories / Re: Froglube
« on: September 08, 2018, 12:23:44 PM »
As you described, that is the process I use to initially and maintain my weapons with froglube.  Fully.stripping then hair.dryer.wuth.froglub, set for.a.hiur.or.two, then wipe off.

YouTube and threads state that with over time, froglube buildup causes the problem as stated that when.firing, the froglube liquidfies.  I guess after storage and froglube solidifies, it causes this.sludge.problem.

Ive been using Froglube for at least 5 years now and have really liked the surface protection, ease of touchup cleaning after going to range and lubrication.
I use it on my handguns and it has been great so far.

Recently saw Youtube videos stating that Froglube causes gumming or stickiness of the action of the weapon.  For handguns, a video stated that it gummed up so badly that it prevented or slowed the hammer of his weapon to stike the primer.  This caused unreliability of his weapon.  Action was like being in a barrel of molasses as a description of what happened.

Ive been happy with froglube, but wondered if anyone else had experienced the same complaints.
To me, it seems like the above complaints would occur if you’ve been applying too much frog lube as a lubricant as froglube as applied as a paste could cause the described proble.
I wanted to confirm this as the eco-enviorment, cleaner feel and no smell, and protection qualities and metal lubrication are why I like it.

Any reply appreciated.

Strategies and Tactics / Should I buy a Ruger 10/22 takedown?
« on: June 20, 2013, 01:04:24 AM »
So I almost bit the bullet so to speak to go out and buy a Ruger 10/22 takedown at SA since they had them in stock,..
Been itching to find one since last year, but the gun ban rage was at full tilt making it impossible or hard to find,..

Then I thought to myself, why should i get one since I live in Hawaii or for self defense which is the primary reason I own a firearm(s)?  Hawaii isnt like other states where you can go to a secluded, heck even your backyard, to shoot or target train,...Also, even though ammo is expensive, IMO its better for me to train and target practice shooting my primary weapons with the ammo you'll use to defend yourself to best get familiar with your weapon and ammo.  I do this as much as i can afford to.  Also, even though 22lr ammo is cheap and light if i had to bug out, its just another caliber to buy and store which wont make sense for me in a defensive situation in my home and for which i wouldnt use.  I would most likely use my 870 6 round or better yet Moss 590 9 round 12 ga and have my glock 19 9mm as my primary sidearm.  If im upstairs in my bedroom, i have access to my safe which holds my Sig .45 and a .40, CZ sp-01 9mm, as well as a Colt AR 6920 for higher round situations.

Guess its really weighing the options, but i really dont think a shtf situation will occur in my lifetime to need a 22lr that my other current callibers can do at the cost of price and weight as again im bunkering down or for self defense in my home rather than head for the hills.

Whats ur opinions?

Long Gun Permit. Take it down to HPD with the washed copy and they will issue you a new one.

Handgun Affidavit  You need to have the person/company who issued it make you a new one. If they are no longer around youre SOL.

Any gun registration that are destroyed you can go to HPD and they will give you copies.

Thanks for the info,.,
Copies of the gun registration is same day service then?
My handgun affidavid is still ok i think...

Dumb stuff happens,...
Left my gun registration papers and gun class paper in a nylon zip lock bag in my cargo shorts thinking I might go to the gun shop shopping.  It didnt happen and probably why I forgot I had them in my shorts as i had to run a lot of errands that day.
Sad to say, i left my papers in my pocket and it got thrown in the wash.
I have 2 registration papers that have the gun id numbers somewhat legible on the registration papers, and the others are ok but all of them are wrinkled as the went thru the dryer too.

Do I go down to hpd and request for new gun/long gun registration papers and come back in 2 weeks to pick them up?

Events / Re: Hawaiian Knife Show coming up!
« on: April 15, 2013, 05:07:43 AM »
It was my first time at the show and have to say i enjoyed it more than the annual gun show,at the Blaisdale which is pretty much the same every year.   These are custom knives made and put together by hand so the reason why they were sp pricey.  These are for mostly collecting albeit they did have production models too.  Whats a trip is that you get to meet the creators and inventors of knivfe features like Ken Onion.   Got there early and got a free t. Shirt from the man himself,...who thought of the flipper design for Kershaw blades which i carry for EDU.
I scored on a ceramic folder for $20 cause it looked cool being all black and maybe 1.5 oz in weight.  Same goes for a pair of ceramic cutting scissors that weighs almost nothing and i put in my maxpedition micro pouch for edu...being there with my friend since ive know since grade school ( im 43 Now,..yikes!), made it fun and informative as he was taught by Stan Fujisaka and knew a bunch of the knive makers by first name and socially.  The lottery for the knives were expensive, but money making deals can be made that i wont elaborate on,..

Looking forward to next years show.

A set of crutches is always nice...

It will sit in a corner or attic for years on end... till someone needs it... Then it is golden!

Trust me, I know first hand... Thaught a sprained ankled turned into a broken ankle...

Check goodwill, salvation army, maybe even yard sales for a cheap used set.

You can't do jack if you can't move around.... :-\

I have crutches, cane, walker, nd even a sams club wheelchair to use.  Came in handy as i just had knee surgery 2 weeks ago or if gout flares up.

The Japanese have a word for that:  SHIBAI

I'll  believe it when it actually happens.

HPD is saying that because of the Negative press it has been getting.

Sorta like how T-Mobile keeps telling us they are working on getting a new cell tower in our area to improve cell reception,,,,been 5 years and counting,,,,

Hawaii prepping for long blackout periods or without water would have been better.  Tsunamis are either too small, or God forbid a island wipeout destructive one that neither would need to prep for.

Preparedness and Survival / Re: Solar charger reviews/choices
« on: January 29, 2013, 10:31:58 AM »
I ordered the La Crosse BC-700 charger on Amazon and will pickup the Eneloop AA,...Wish they had AAA too at Costco, but will probably pick em up on Amazon too..

I highly suggest looking at the eneloop rechargeable batteries.  They are considered about the best available, do a search on them.  They are now sold at Costco and are $17 for ten of them with the $4 manufacturer instant off price.

Anyone remotely interested in solar generators / chargers, I also just saw this at Costco Hawaii Kai.  Wagan Tech Solar e power cube 1500.  They are around $1100 market price and that is without shipping, but were $759 at Costco.  Not quite hiking portable but are easily enough rolled around on wheels and handle like a carry on.

I think that for his 1st pistol, the Glock or MP would be a better choice than the CZ.
I just got my CZ SP-01 last month only cause it is one of the Super 9mm out there, but it may be too heavy for his 1st pistol if he'd want to use it in other manners.
The CZ is definitely heavier for EDC or primary pistol compared to the Glock and MP since they polymer frames, but is great for target shooting and follow up shots due to the weight.  Glock got many upgrade mod parts out there as well.

I like my G19 with some mods as my primary pistol and I have a Sig 226 40 SW, Sig 1911, and the CZ Sp-01 as backups (as well as my 1 shottys and 6920 for long guns).

Also....how about a CZ-75b?

General Discussion / Honolulu Firearms Prices at gun range
« on: January 25, 2013, 08:52:43 AM »
Before I get any flames on this topic, I go here to get in and out in a timely manner and closer proximity to where I live and why I go here.

But I got my CZ SP-01 Tactical and in dire want to go puts some rounds thru it.  Anyone know what a box of 9mm is going for there right now if anyone has gone lately?  I think they were charging $22-$26 per box of 50 last time I went a few months ago.

Thanks

General Discussion / Re: Alex Jones VS Piers Morgan
« on: January 08, 2013, 10:53:00 AM »
Everyone should know that this is what Piers Morgan does, as he is all about ratings and emotional responses.  He is estatic about the list to get expunged out of the US going around.
Also, everyone going on his show should expect a confrontation as stating or not stating facts to get a "rise" out of the debate and the public as that is what he wants.
I just ignore the validity of his show, as just like Howard Stern's show it is just to get ratings and nothing more...
