Reloading / Seating Depth - Discuss
« on: December 13, 2020, 06:48:59 PM »
Is that what you do?

When I get my gun back, and after I get charge weight dialed in, I was going to try the same. Jam point, lands, etc.

The seating die my buddy has will be a PITA to vary the different seating depths though. If/when I get to this step, will look into the dial seating dies.

I got the hornady tool, but if you don’t have the tool it’s another option.

It’s going to be hell trying to change seating depth with a non micrometer seater.

If you want to use the mag you are subject to that limitation and seating depth may or may not be an option. It’s also bullet dependent. Some like to be close to the lands and some don’t care.

Redding sells a micrometer seater add on if you have their regular seater die. Another option.

Understand/realize that.  I was asking him how he does it. . . since there are some that don't use the OAL gauge or precision mic method. . .

Too early for amps?

If you are going to neck size only try the Lee Collet die and measure the concentricity before and after. Setup correctly you'd be surprised how little to no run out you get on the case neck.

Concentricity is another rabbit hole that you may to choose to jump into.

At what point or range does concentricity affect accuracy? How much runout is acceptable for a certain distance?

Spend what's in your budget and practice with it. Go to a large store with a lot in inventory and feel each gun. Don't get tricked into buying more gun than you actually need for your intended purpose.

Feel the diff between a 19 and 17 as the grip angle is slightly diff because of the size.

SEC had some used Glock 17 gen 3 on consignment for about $350 I think.

Dry fire a lot and go to the range to get use to how the gun recoils and feels when fired.

General Discussion / getting Bulk ammo in Vegas
« on: January 24, 2015, 08:58:19 PM »
2 miles out of city limits you can shoot as far as you like. Just place your target and drive 1 mile away and shoot at it....

If you have a skeet or trap gun they have like 15 areas, insanely huge and they have a night shoot just not sure what day it was on. When u drive up to the pistol area all the way in the back u will see how large that place is.... Best part is the  stadium lights...

PS is it windy they close the range sometimes because of the dust storm....

Bass pro caps you on the amount you can purchase. Lucky we found 8 boxes of 9mm to buy but everywhere was sold out back in June... Lot of guns stores in Vegas, call around and see if you can buy in bulk over the phone.  Some local shooters buy in bulk and have it shipped in to vegas. At least that's what they told us....

Go to the Monday night steel challenge run by Pete At Clark county... Really good fun but call ahead just to double check its not cancelled...
