Political Discussion / Re: What did they think would happen?

So, you only have MSM and AOC/Squad talking points and memes -- nothing of your own to add?

Do you draw the line at the same spot that states red flag law is constitutional?

If you do, then of course the hearing is in Brooklyn with a TDS justice system, cause they need that in order to push this. Even though the crime wasn't committed in Brooklyn, but traveled via the internet to Brooklyn.  I mean, might as well go to the UN cause the internet is world wide and someone must have seen the meme in Dubai.

Of course, this doesn't violate free speech because someone somewhere was harmed immediately.

Of course this has a credible witness because there it's OK to remain anonyms cause the witness may get harassed online.  Guess this is the same level as ISIS witnesses who come forward about a terrorist plot.

Of course there's intent because memes are known to be very serious and 100% accurate as everyone should believe every meme they see, BRB, I saw a meme about hot MILFS who want me in a 1 mile radius. I'm gonna go look for these hot MILFS who want me.

Of course he's getting a fair trial because after 3 days and 2 hung jury's the judge told them to go back and think harder about their choice.  I mean, who wants to go home over a BS case.

For every act of voter fraud, and there have been lots over the last 6 years, a voter who wanted a different outcome was disenfranchised.

Yet, the mantra is always "those votes would not have changed the election results."  Does that even matter?  My vote may have been voided by an illegal ballot.  It doesn't matter who won or lost.  It's disenfranchisement.

But, "memes" ....

If they all want to kill each other then let them pay for it. I'm sick of watching prices at the grocery story skyrocket because the federal reserve printed more money to fund bloodbaths in the Middle East

Inflation is a tax.

That's a totally different discussion.  You were saying Iran has a right to defend itself.

Truth is, when the side that started the fight is about to get their asses handed to them, they like to play the victim knowing they poked a much bigger bear than they can handle.

Israel bombed the embassy in Damascus about 5 days ago

The embassy was not bombed.  That's a lie.  It was a consulate annex building several blocks away from the embassy itself.

It was a meeting place where Hamas, Hezbollah and Iranians were gathered in order to plan continued attacks on Israel.

If a country is actively try to kill 2 million people someone's going to notice

Yeah.  Those people in Gaza need to leave Israel alone.

Hamas launches a massacre on civilians in October and then launches around 300 missiles and drones toward Israel  with the help of Iran, and THEY are being oppressed?

If not for the Iron Dome and other defenses, Israel would be the experiencing casualties and destruction on a mass scale.

But, Hamas has their people in Gaza screaming, "Help! Help!  Israel is engaged in genocide!"

Give me a break.

Twenty-eight Google employees were fired after they held protests at Google offices across the US -- including staging a "die in" in the CEO's office.

The protest was in support of Palestine as the employees demanded Google cut business ties with Israel.

Since Google is teaming with Amazon on an IT project for Israel that's worth north of a billion dollars, I think the protesters are not likely to prevail.  And if that doesn't convince you, Google put those employees on administrative leave, told them to leave the property, and called the cops to have them trespassed and then arrested if they still refused to leave.     I imagine the number of arrests was less than the total, since I'm sure some valued their cushy jobs and paychecks more than they did a cause that has nothing to do with them.

Next, they'll be throwing tomato soup on priceless works of art.  I don't think these people care about the causes they protest for.  They just don't have anything more constructive to do -- other than their former jobs!

I was thinking there's a potentially untapped market out there.

How many times has someone asked you to help them move on a Saturday morning?  Or to help wash cars for your kid's school or scout troop's fund raiser?  Maybe you're expected to attend a wedding or kindergarten graduation?

For all those times you planned on finishing some chores around the house, reading a new book, or catching up on your favorite streams, you don't have to fake a headache or come up with an excuse  ......

Presenting:  The House-O-Rest Ankle Monitor!

Looks like a real ankle monitor used for those on house arrest or probation, but without the annoying visit by the Cops if you make a beer run!

So, next time your buddy says, "I'm moving this weekend.  Any plans?"  Show him your monitor and tell him you're under home confinement for the whole weekend.

Use your imagination for a cool explanation!   :geekdanc:

This is the product of an education system that treats pictures on hats and fingers as "guns".  Kids grow up with no respect for the real thing.

So, when they come up with these stupid games, they don't appreciate the seriousness of what they are doing.

Nobody thought to only use bright-colored squirt guns?

Off Topic / When a Scammer Causes a Murder
« on: April 17, 2024, 09:41:42 AM »
Just saw a YT video news report of a recent homicide where an 81 year old man in Ohio shot and killed an Uber driver -- a 61 year old female.

The scammer tried to pull the "I'm an officer of the court" scam in which a relative of the victim needs bail money.  After getting resistance to every demand for electronic payment, the scammer then threatened to kill the victim and his family if he doesn't pay the ransom.

The scammer then ordered an Uber to pick up "a package" at the victim's address -- no rider, just a pick-up and delivery order for the package.  It sounds like the scammer didn't tell the male victim about the Uber, just that someone would be there soon to get the money from him.

The Uber driver showed up and asked for the package, and the male victim thought she was working with the scammer -- the same person who just threatened to kill him and his family..

He chased her away brandishing a revolver, and he took her cell phone.  I guess she wanted her phone back and wouldn't leave without it.

Investigators called the scammer who answered the phone and identified himself as also law enforcement.  They set up a time to meet, but the scammer never showed.

Can we sue politicians for a terrible job?

Qualified immunity.

They aren't qualified, so they need immunity.

The English language is confusing.
How come 22 is twenty two,
33 is thirty three and
11 is NOT oney one?

Should be "ten-one", right?   :geekdanc:

twenty + one = twenty-one
thirty + one = thirty-one

So, ten + one should = ten-one

English is a derivative language having its main roots in German.

The German name for "11" is "elf" (cardinal) or "elfte" (ordinal).  Hence, "eleven."

It's supposed to be the Government's burden to prove a person is disqualified from owning a firearm.

Mayor says public safety is #1.  Sounds like interest balancing.

Maybe I'm being too sensitive, but Rick sounds like a 100% no-question-about-it gun-hating Democrat who's using "Hawaiian Culture" (i.e Aloha Spirit) to justify ignoring the rights of individuals to provide for their own safety without depending on government.

I didn't grow up in Hawaii, so I guess I'm part of the gun culture in the US.  Rick seems to believe I should abandon MY culture and adopt HIS simply because he believes it increases safety.  What happens when someone born and raised in HI travels and/or moves to the mainland because they can't afford it here?  They will be ill prepared for self defense because the wonderful people running HI decided they don't need to be able to carry or use a firearm.  The Aloha Spirit won't protect them at all.  Not everyone has the option of living on these tiny islands in the middle of the Pacific from cradle to grave where Big Brother pretends to keep them safe.  Even while traveling out of state for work or pleasure, HI residents deserve the right to prepare for whatever potential threats they may encounter.

Rick has a pretty narrow view of life, liberty and safety in general.
