What is this?

Looks like flakes similar to lemon zest.  For cooking?  Not sure but I think the pkg. is 18 grams or 6 ounces. :D

How did you get it?  Looks like came from Marukai.  I like going Marukai.  I walk around and guess WTF 70% of their merchandise is.

Good fun.

Try the Google translate app.  If it recognizes the kanji, it will "try" to translate.  I say "try" because not always accurate.  Sometimes even pretty funny, like romtmc's example above.

It more or less translates as a Lemon drink that can be hot or cold and provides 18 times your daily vitamin C.

Not seen any good ones lately, but there was a spate of hilarious stuff about Asian character tattoos that millennials were so enamored with.

Many said something much different than what they thought it meant.

It’s called furosato lemon (hometown lemon).
It’s a vitamin c drink, one bag equals 18 lemons of vitamin c
It can be served hot or cold

Hmmmm. Interesting.
So the consensus is that it is a health drink in front of a bowl of dragon fruit.
I can work with that.

The whole reason for asking was that I was cleaning out the medicine cabinet in the bathroom and found it.
I thought it might have been a lemon scented toilet bowl cleaner.

Translated from a website.....

A classic of Hiroshima! "Hometown Lemon Hot & Cold" tastes great once you drink it - the refreshing flavor of lemon and the natural sweetness
I actually drank "Furusato Lemon Hot & Cold" sold by Mihara Agricultural Cooperative! A refreshing cup that can be enjoyed hot or iced.

"Furusato Lemon Hot & Cold" sold by Mihara Agricultural Cooperative. I found it at a general store in Tokyo. It is 6 bags, and the purchase price is 216 yen (including tax).
This is a powdered beverage made from whole lemon fruit and peel from Setoda Town, Onomichi
City. Vitamin C570mg is blended in 15g of singing bag.

How to make it is very easy. Put a bag of "Furusato Lemon" in a cup, pour about 100ml of hot or cold water, and dissolve well.

Just put it in a cup and pour hot or cold water.

The fragrance of a refreshing lemon spread softly and a slight sweetness. Before I drank it, I was expecting a powdered drink of candy, but the aftertaste was also refreshing and I didn't feel as cheap as I had imagined. It looks delicious even if I divid it with carbonated water!

"Furusato Lemon Hot & Cold" is rich in the refreshing aroma and sweetness of lemon. It's ice cream on hot days and hot and fun on cold ♪

....
Well.....
I tried it mixed with 100ml of hot water. It was very sweet.
Then I added ice and water to get to 1 cup of liquid and it was great.
It's probably loaded with sugar, but it tastes good.
