General Discussion / Help with Retrieving Firearm
« on: March 09, 2022, 09:34:11 PM »
My Step Father passed last month and his AR is a HPD, the officers at the firearm registration said I need notarized letter as my mother is still alive and she wants me to pick up the firearm. Has anyone dealt with this situation before and have a template for the letter. Currently just reapplied for a permit today with the hope of picking it up later this month

I like the idea of having classroom & retail space.  It would good to have revenue generating space that supplements(not replace) city funding of KHSC.  Maybe rent out to archery shop that has indoor range for retail sales/instruction.  Rent out to gunshop for onsite ammo sales.

It would be nice to bring in instructors to have gunsmithing/armorer/reloading classes:

Gunsmithing:

https://rifledynamics.com/build-classes/

Armorer:
https://glocktraining.com/Schedule.aspx
https://www.sigsaueracademy.com/course/armorer-certification

Also a dynamic range would be great or at least the option to do some Run N Gun

Anybody got an appointment for sale in March?

Anybody got an appointment to register an out of state firearm or 4-10 firearms in mid march or april?

Also a regular registration appointment would work.

Lastly I was told by HPD yesterday that if you have multiple guns to register ie 10 and you can only get an appointment for 1-3 still bring in all the firearms as they would rather have them registered then you waiting another 90 days

Oh an support the FPC

General Discussion / Re: Why so few appointments

Not sure how true this is, but my FFL told me he spoke to someone at the station, and they plan on keeping this system even after the covid restrictions get lifted.

I was told the same thing by a cop working the permit section when I went down. He said they want to keep appointments and maybe allow some walk ins.

My thing with appointments is if you’re gonna keep it add a lot more slots and make it available at the other stations

Personally I prefer the old way but if we have to deal with appointments why are the other stations not doing appointments.

I don’t see a reason why they don’t in the first place. It would increase access and we wouldn’t have a 3+ month wait

Yeah and thats where koko head fails no pistol from holster, no quick follow up shots, and no area to move and shoot not a big deal for military but the 2A community it doesnt allow realistic training

Zippz compared to mainland ranges or the military ranges on island  it's easy to put down khsc but it is a good range by hawaii standards

General Discussion / khsc review

Just a little review of my experience at koko head shooting complex. I liked it but it doesn't meet my needs but I appreciate it being there for the 2A community.
Positives:
Great Staff
Shooters who embody the aloha spirit
Free
Parking(Lots of it)
Low cost for pistol shooting

Negatives:
5 round limit on magazines
No quick follow up for shots
Range length

Overall I would recommend this range for all my civilian friends and military guys looking to zero, but I will continue to do most of.my shooting at puu'loa or kbay due to no mag limitation, follow up shots and able to push the gun out to 600+. This is in way a bad review about khsc as I would give it 4/5 stars and enjoyed my time at the range, just wasnt for me.

Yeah, if all the people that believe Constitutional governing is important left, this place'd be circling the drain even more quickly than it already is...

That's true

Get rid of registration one of the reasons in not a resident anymore is hawaiis gun laws. My new state allow neighbor sales and no registration of firearms along with getting your firearms when you purchase them nbot a 2 week waiting period per weapon and even dumber permits. Also SBR's, and suppressors
