Growing up on Molokai, I would often go deer and goat hunting by myself from the time I was 15.  I used a 30-06 with open sights in the beginning,  until my father got me what I wanted for my 16th birthday, a Remington 700 BDL in 7MM Mag with a Redfield 4X scope. I carried an empty backpack with plastic bags and whenever I shot something, I would debone it in the field and only pack.out the meat.

when i had a kid i started to carry a garmin inreach bc some places i go solo and i dont have cell service.  it gives my wife peach of mind.
