Lumens only tells half the story. Lux tells the other half. I have 3600 lumen lights with only 5000 lux(pure wall of light, even beam from 4 leds in wide angle tir projectors) and i have an 1800 lumen search light with 1.2million lux that has a conventional 7 inch reflector head on it that will illuminate something a mile half away with only 1800 lumens.
Surefire has different beam patterns available in different models. The 'maxvision' is wide angle flood indoor/cqb and the x line has a hot spot
Sounds like a light a buddy has.  I think he said it was something like 2000-2200 lumens.  We were on his deck smoking a cigar and talking story.  He showed me the light and said "check this out".  He lit it up and lit the parking lot where my car was, which was maybe 100 yards away and it looked like it was almost day time.  Then he lit up the ridgeline behind his house, and I could see the houses up there that were at least a half a mile away.  That was a bright ass light!
