OK ya'll I did your homework LOL
Used Ballotpedia as its pretty level and has links to candidates sites but I did do research beyond Ballotpedia.
I've met and or spoke to at least half of these folks. If their not mentioned it's cause the lack info/website
US SenatorTimothy Dalhouse - https://ballotpedia.org/Timothy_Dalhouse24 year retired Marine and the only one to complete the Ballotpedia's Candidate Connection survey in 2022 (
which included pro-gun).
PRO-AMERICA & PRO-HAWAII (in that order) and actually has suggestions for solutions to issues. Only one with Web Page
My Pick
Bob McDermott- https://ballotpedia.org/Bob_McDermottBeen in for 10 yrs on several committees already still trying to solve the same problems i.g. Homelessness, environment, education. Lots of "urging " and "supporting" but not a lot of results.
Asia LaVonne- https://ballotpedia.org/Asia_LaVonne All about Faith, Family and Freedom. Fine beliefs but like most others out there, no real explanation of how these are affected and how she'll accomplish her "passionate" list.
Wallyn Christian- https://ballotpedia.org/Wallyn_ChristianCampaign Platform “Ua Mau ke Ea o ka ʻĀina i ka Pono” I'm always skeptical of the full blown Hawaiian rhetoric as it negates all other non-Hawaiians like we don't count. Lots of famous quotes from Thoreau to Reagan with a touch of plagiarism's. May be educated but looks like no voice of her own.
GovernorGary Cordery - https://ballotpedia.org/Gary_Corderycompleted Ballotpedia's Candidate Connection survey in 2022.
At one event, after being the first to be introduced and given a couple minutes to speak, he was the only politician who stood there and listened to EVERY other politicians 2 minute spiel. Met with him and he is
pro 2a. Also has answers for many issues (Stop Homelessness ? Stop giving them money!) Parents back in appointing school boards, not "all In" on green energy, Jones Act and more. Seemed like a lot of mutual support and common interests between him and Seaula Tupai Jr.
MY PICKDuke Aiona - https://ballotpedia.org/Duke_Aiona Another politician with 20 years in. Best you can say is he served with Lingle.
Heidi Tsuneyoshi - https://ballotpedia.org/Heidi_Tsuneyoshi Again, no real explanation of how she'll accomplish her "priorities" which are the same ones everybody else has been working on and campaigning on.
Lots of skeletons in closet.
BJ Penn - https://ballotpedia.org/BJ_Penn Looks like he got heart but gonna need more than that. And again, too centered on Hawaiians and not all residents of Hawaii but I'll put him at #3
Lynn Barry Mariano - https://ballotpedia.org/Lynn_Barry_MarianoLots of good thoughts (Build $800K homes for $300-400K), but again, no backing up the talk.
Keline-Kameyo Kahau - https://ballotpedia.org/Keline-Kameyo_Kahau "My role as Hawaii’s Governor, is to be an example to the people and to serve and lead them to positive prosperity." Education, Local business', Land Planning and Auditing Hawaii Government on her hit list.
Actually know this one. One of the main reasons she is running is that her kids "wen grad" and she's pissed with the results. Don't blame her.
I'll put her
AT #2 just because she's honest, has her heart in the right place and is intelligent enough to do the job.
Paul Morgan - https://ballotpedia.org/Paul_Morgan_(Hawaii)"Ending corruption begins with me." (Sounds like he's got an axe to grind.)
Economic Recovery includes '' Convert Safe Travels website to the Economic Recovery Program website and implement a visitors collection fee of $25 per person (ages 2 and up)"
Lieutenant GovernorSeaula Tupai (a.k.a. Junior) - https://ballotpedia.org/Seaula_TupaiMet and talked with him.
SUPER 2a and a bunch of other good stuff.
Seemed like a lot of mutual support and common interests between him and Gary Cordery.
My PickRob Burns - https://ballotpedia.org/Rob_BurnsMostly "Talk story" but at least hates rail.
Hawaii House of Representatives to represent District 47.Mark Talaeai No Brainer , only horse running.
MY PICK
State Senator Dist 23Brenton Awa - https://ballotpedia.org/Brenton_AwaKahuku wrestling coach but at least I can learn about him via his campaign web page and other.
MY PICK
Art Hannemann - https://ballotpedia.org/Arthur_HannemannAnother Laie favorite. Seemed like a nice guy but lacked the fire Brenton showed.
Not a lot of info on him out there.
U.S. Rep Dist IIJoseph Akana - https://ballotpedia.org/Joseph_Akana"It’s a funny thing…. People are outraged by the 2A, demanding more intrusive and mental health background checks. But don’t demand the same for K-12 educators. I wonder how many children were damaged because of them? Protect our keiki!"
As for Climate Change... "As an immediate action, we’ll plant 100 trees in the first 100 days, statewide"
https://www.civilbeat.org/2022/07/candidate-qa-2nd-congressional-district-joe-akana/MY PICK
Joe Webster - https://ballotpedia.org/Joe_WebsterNot much on this guy.
"Pass sensible rules that keep guns out of the hands of those who would use them to hurt others"
