Just seeing if anyone interested in shooting a NRL Hunter Style match in Hawaii from ranges 300-1000 yards on animal shaped steel targets and shooting off natural barriers in difficult positions. This is will be held sometime in 2027. been bringing my guns to the mainland when visiting family  to shoot long range steel and its very addicting.  would love to see this happen. ty for organizing

Wife's finally off sunday to watch the kid, I got some new lots of ammo and just swapped some scopes and chassis around and pull up and didn't realize the range was still flooded. Ffp is better bc most shouldnt be shooting at max power which makes sfp sub tensions useless bc they only make sense on max power. However most ffp reticles are not great for hunting. You want ones that still can be seen on min power when you want max fov up close but not too cluttered when you crank them up (no trees) The swfa reticles are a pretty balance of both, the glass on the 3x9s is a little better than the 3x15s (still perfectly adequate)  but I like having a little more power bc I sometimes hunt mouflon and southern whitetail and they are both pretty small. I have 2 of the 3x9s and 2 of the 3x15s. The 3x9 is only 20oz and the 3x15 only 22. Another reticle that's good is the maven reticle on the rs 1.2 but that's their only reliable model. I have two of those as well but they are a little heavier than the swfas. Great scopes though and they offer a great discount through govx if you are first responder. If you are on a budget the fixed 10 or 6 power swfa would be a decent buy the 10s can be found for 2-300 used. The 6xs are very hard to find and resell at a premium bc most like the fov of the 6 over the power of the 10 but I don't mind, I have two of them as well. I had some trijicon ten miles too before I went all in on ffp and the sfp retcle was good. The tree reticle on the ffp was too busy though I don't like trees. If you are just shooting inside 2-300 sfp still probably is fine but if you ever wanted to stretch it out go ffp mil and don't. Look back. The swfa 3x9 would be my first choice for that. Learn about quick drop and wind brackets and you'll be a better shooter. I've never worried about illumination either.

Glock 17 with lots of solid bullets in a mainland standard capacity mag for me. I want something I can get as many bullets as possible in the quickest amount of time and still shoot decently under stress

With our state govt always doing whatever it can to stop us from harming ourselves (eg. COVID) why wouldn't they save our precious hearing and legalize suppressors? It goes along with their agenda aimirite? Yet somehow we are one of the last 8 states where suppressors are still illegal. Anything in the works to change this?

I wouldnt waste your time i went last summer saw 8 deer in 3 days it was so junk seemed like what  deer there was, was around town in the safety zones where it was greener. saw lots of ewes but rly no deer. nowhere close to the numbers before the bad drought they had couple years ago.

that is a great optoin for the type of hunting you are describing. much better than a primary arms

Looking at having some cerakote/gunsmithing done to a barreled action and some bolts fluted too and send to mainland. The gunsmith is an FFL so I don't believe shipping them is an issue but can they send straight back to me once work is completed? I don't have to go through an FFL do I? I don't even know where to look or even to look at county ( Maui) or state law ? I had a savage bolt gun warrantied in the past and I want to say they sent it straight back to me but that was a long time ago. Any info appreciated including best practices for shipping, figured I'd check here first.

With the caveat that I’m not an attorney, should be ok per HRS 134.

“In all cases where a rifle or shotgun is acquired from another person within the State, the person who is transferring title to the rifle or shotgun shall submit, within forty-eight hours after transferring the firearm, to the authority that issued the permit to acquire, the following information, in writing:  name of the person who transferred the firearm, name of the person to whom the title to the firearm was transferred; names of the manufacturer and importer; model; type of action; caliber or gauge; and serial number, as applicable.”

So seller would need to provide that info to HPD, as I read it.
