Kinda curious where Marissa is I was looking forward to her comments. Dunno if her not being there helped or hurt Tupola, probably hurt if I had to pick.

Legal and Activism / Age(s) for firearms ownership in Hawaii
« on: June 19, 2017, 07:23:41 PM »
Not trying to start a debate or to get opinions or other BS just facts from the HRS.

How old does one need to be to legally own or possess a long gun in Hawaii.

I am reading HRS 134 and I see 21 and 18 in 134-2 (d) for permits, then I see 18 in 134-4 (a). Then later in 134-4 (d) it says adult the state defines an adult as being 18 years of age (age of majority) HRS 577-1.

I though it was 18 years old for long guns and 21 years old for hand guns. Any help and the applicable references would me most appreciated. I shall continue to research on my own.

Firearms and Accessories / Help Springfield Trapdoor Model 1884
« on: July 13, 2016, 02:50:26 PM »
I found a model 1884 Springfield Trapdoor today at an antique shop. Is anybody here smart on them? I think it is in good condition and parts look correct to me, the seller is asking $1000 the shop can do 10% off and was trying to contact the owner but didn't reach him they said that I could make an offer.

Here are some pics it's the one in the middle it also comes with a bayonet
SN: 236388
barrel markings
breechblock
The bore looked bright I saw rifling it didn't look very deep though. I don't know how it's supposed to look on this model rifle. The stock and bluing looks good to me. The breech mechanism and the lock-work all seem function correctly. Does anyone know what these are valued at and selling for now. I have a short time to act on this if I decide to buy it, any guidance or help would be most appreciated.

General Discussion / Commemorative Firearms
« on: April 17, 2016, 07:28:55 AM »
My adventure travel agent everybody's favorite uncle has told me it's time for another trip. Being a gun guy I have nominated myself to research and facilitate a commemorative firearms group buy.

On my last trip another fellow in California facilitated the purchase I have touched bases with him. We did a pistol and a rifle, the pistols were Sig's direct from Sig, the rifles were S&W through a third party Quantico Tactical.

So far I have contacted S&W and Colt I plan on contacting Quantico Tactical this coming week. Colt has contacted me back with samples and program details, S&W took my info and said that someone would call me that has not happened. My commander has specified that he would like a 1911.

My questions to those who have experience with facilitating or being part of a group buy are:

1) who did you all use?

2) would you use them again or recommend them to others?

3) were you happy with the finished product(s)

Please feel free to add anything you think would pertinent to anything above or anything helpful.

Off Topic / Recommendations and advice on selecting an Exterminator
« on: February 03, 2016, 07:10:59 PM »
Howdy folks I need to have two things done I need to have a Termite inspection done on my home and I'd like to establish extermination service.

Who do/did you use and why?

Is one company better than the others or do they all do the same thing?

Out of the local companies who's good?

Out of the mainland companies who's good?

Who have you had problems with, PM if you don't want to post here?

What should I expect to pay for a) the termite insp. and b) monthly or quarterly service?

Anything else I didn't ask about that you think I should know. If your in the industry let me know, I know one member who is.

Thanks in advance

General Discussion / 2015 LGS best and maybe not so best
« on: January 04, 2016, 06:24:40 AM »
I don't want to make a shit on this or that shop thread but I would like to acknowledge the shops that did you right in 2015 and make notice of those who didn't.

1) Who's your go to shop any why?

2) Where would you rather not go to and why?

3)Were you done wrong (keep it civil) someplace?

4) Some folks might not notice their errs so kindly suggest improvements.

5) Miscellaneous. Anything not covered above or you feel is missing.

Firearms and Accessories / .22 LR on the shelves at Sports Authority
« on: September 17, 2015, 07:51:20 AM »
Haven't seen anybody post on this yet, Sports Authority has .22 LR on the shelves finally. It's not bulk and it's not cheap but it's there. $5.99 per box same price for either variety.

It seems like SA is increasing their ammo selection to include more than Winchester White box, I have seen PMC, Tula, Fiocchi, Aguila and a few other brands I can't recall.
