Got interviewed by civil beat today.  Reporter ask if the government is trending toward lightening gun restrictions or is it because of the lawsuits.

Well...

Since he knows how to read and comprehend words, which is required to pass medical school.  Yet he violates the 2A, based on that, I wouldn't trust him working on me.  I'd ask for another doc if I could.  This is beacuse I don't know how good of a real doc he is, but I do know his stance on the 2A and what the 2nd amendment says.

Doctors are a profession high with Democrat voters, along with teachers, attorneys, government employees, actors...

Not sure what kind of doctor Green is.  There are specialties that are Republican majority like neurosurgeons.

Green has a decent chance of getting the Democratic Primary.  The other choices are Kamala Harris, AOC, and Gavin Newsom.  Green is the most moderate of the bunch and may appeal to voters who think the others are crazy.

If Trump screws up the economy, then the seat will go to the Democrats

if so, do they start all over again?  or do they just pick up where they left off, conference committee on last amendment?

Contact the public access room and they'll explain the procedures, and let us know.  https://lrb.hawaii.gov/par/

I'd do it myself but everyone has to know how to find the info.

When will we find out if they take the case?

Most likely July or after the recess in October.  Or it could be longer like the Snope v Brown (AWB) which SCOTUS keeps delaying.

Unfortunately Green and Blangiardi have very high approval ratings so they will keep their jobs for a while.  Support from government employees, seen as charging ahead to get things done, and fighting for the people of Hawaii.

That's the public perception.

Legislature has ended and some new gun laws took effect already. Pass the word on

Link to Bill Tracker: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1zYZRI1ur4okMK6PuIh0ybxW99QyJMidV6iAsvqSYffI/edit?usp=sharing

Act 22 Secure Storage - In retail sales/transfer of firearms, a copy of the updated HRS 134-10.5 must be provided. Also for gun owners,  firearms must be locked in a secure container when left unattended or carried on or be in close proximity to the owner.

Act 18 Ghost Guns - This bans currently legal registered guns that were built from unserialized frames and receivers since the manufacturer didn't print and register the serial number.   It was meant for the criminal possession of such guns, so I'm not sure if they will enforce it on legal gun owners.  There's also the unconstitutionality of banning something that was legal prior.

SB1030 Polling Places - Pending governors signature. Prohibits the open carry of dangerous instruments and firearms within 200 feet of voting centers and ballot drop boxes.

General Discussion / Re: Any LGS carry Pom OC spray?

I like the POM sprayers as they are small and don't take up space in my pocket.  The formulation is also more effective than average.

It's what I carry but I never seen it in Hawaii.  Amazon sells it if you take a trip to the mainland.

General Discussion / Re: Silhouette side
« on: April 30, 2025, 07:40:19 PM »
Why only club members at 100 yards? If I donate a bunch of AR500 targets, can I shoot at 100 yards? Shooting pistol out to 100 is what made it extra fun…

May have something to do with changes to the range layout.  The club shoots their matches to 100 yards on the left side.  I'm guessing there will be a new 50 yard berm on the right side to meet safety compliance.

Just a guess.

I'm in Samoa today so can't make it.  Wish you all well.

Something I noticed...

This affects use of semi auto rifles for eradication hunting on non-private land. Grandfathered guns could still be used on private lands but nothing allows professional hunters to use them on county/ state land.

Right, or am I misreading? Can government-owned land be considered "private"?

Isn't that a big deal?

Yup.  If this passes, then I'm going to rally the hunters to rail against the legislators who voted for this.  To  include Tarnas who caused this mess and whos district is on the big island.

I guess I’m gonna keep calling my district senator again this Monday to remind them. Vote no to SB401. Is there other we should be calling?

Senate President could stop the vote.  https://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/legislature/memberpage.aspx?member=192&year=2025

Good to call the House speaker and your district House Rep.  The house voted to advance it a couple weeks ago, but good to have a good communications with your house rep so they know it's important to you.

We locals GOT SOLD OUT! Our rights were SOLD by this Ca$hMoney Sistah!

You should complain to the Governor.
15
I hope not, since I already destroyed the 20 I had and converted my AR15 to a single shot in anticipation of the bill passing and not wanting to be a felon.

Boating accident eh?  Seems to be a common thing.

what about gut and replace aspect? tarnas admited as much on the news. took the text from one bill that already died and inserted into this one.

It's not to the same extent as what the HI supreme Court ruled on a few years ago.

This bill wasn't gutted or replaced, the original 50 cal ban still remains they just added more.  And it still relates to firearms bans.  What Tarnas did was substantially add to it which wasn't heard by the Senate committees and public wasn't allowed to testify in the Senate.

Hawaii Supreme Court would rule against us if lawsuit was filed.  The gut and replace was overruled by a 5 to 4 vote.  Lawsuit like this would cost about $100,000 or more.

Thinking back on a federal lawsuit, maybe we could get a tro or preliminary injunction if we get lucky on the judge.  Since the Duncan ruling was more on the point of magazines aren't protected under the 2a.  Would still be very difficult to get tho.
17
Since no one on here breaks the law, I'm sure there will be thousands of magazines turned in to the local PD or blocked if the law passes.  ;D

Do we get $200 gift cards for each one turned in?

Aw man.. So say this bill passes, do we get to shoot our semi rifles at the range? I’m getting kinda on the paranoid of buying any firearm related stuff now. How bout bolt action styles rifles with ar style grips (im actually was about to purchase another one with a 10 round mag)? Will those type of firearms be affected too? I mean who knows nowadays with all this infringements here in Hawaii. Just like they like band everything.

You can shoot it at a range.

Main things you can't do with it is hunt on public land, take it to the police station, or take it out of state and bring it back.
19
If this bill passes into law, we may be stuck with it for a while.  Until SCOTUS takes it up on this or something similar.

There will be no TRO or preliminary injunctions in Hawaii to stop it since Duncan v Bonta sets the losing precedent in the 9th Circuit.

Hawaii currently has a magazine ban (pistol) and assault pistol ban lawsuits on hold pending Duncan.

SCOTUS might not take up Marylands Snopes v Brown AWB appeal which is under their review, since there is no circuit court split.  All the appeals have been lost nationwide when it comes to the AWB.  A split in wins/losses across the nation is one of major decision factors SCOTUS uses.  I think SCOTUS will eventually take a case, but it could be a long time until then.

This is where it also gets confusing.. Even though this bill is aimed at semi-auto rifles and semi-auto shot guns. There is also bolt action AR style rifles. That has folding stocks, has detachable mags, threaded barrels, threaded muzzle, pistol grips, and thumbholes. Are these type of firearms affected too? What about muzzle brakes? I mean it's like flash hiders/ suppressors (if that what it means). This bill seems like a sneeky backdoor altogether. friggin ban everything already. I mean anything that can become a weapon. Knives, hammer, bats, automobiles, pens, pencils, forks, spoons. Oh wait, all these is utterly useless without a operator.

Bolt actions are not affected.  It has ot meet the criteria of :  "Assault rifle" means a semiautomatic rifle:
