Welcome to the forum. Are you in Maryland?
Just curious why you're browsing so far away.
Introduce yourself why don't ya.

Aloha!  Yes, I am still in MD but my wife has the opportunity to move to Oahu next year so I have been lurking a bit to learn about guns in Hawaii.  I can work remotely and my wife is 4 years away from retirement so we are hoping to do a three year tour in Oahu and then we really want to retire in Kona.  My wife and I have been married for two years and we are empty nesters.  She lived in Oahu for 2 years back in 2000 and fell in love with the islands and it wasn't a hard sell to convince me to move there.  Now we just have to sort out our work issues and make the move happen.

I have been careful to only purchase guns that are legal in Hawaii and I am definitely going to make some more purchases before we move to avoid the hassle of buying there.  It will be a fun day when I show up to HPD with 20 guns but it beats the pain of acquisition in paradise.

I know about Koko Head in Oahu but it is looking like the Big Island does not have much in the way of shooting ranges, however Google isn't always the best.  I do see that the BI has a trap and skeet range, but that is over in Hilo.  Any insight would be appreciated.

Beautiful that they were incinerated by  the very flamethrower they used to execute all those hostages.

how's the optic compared to competitors?

I ran 180 rounds through at 100 yards with cheap PMC bronze and XM855 was getting 3 inch groups. I need to feed it some nice match grade ammo and see how tight I can shoot it.

The optics are very nice. Very clear, first focal plane with true 1x so you can shoot close up with both eyes open. Most 1x optics only go to 4x so the 6x is super nice. I got the MRAD so the clicks are 0.2 MRADS. Sig did a super nice job.

Maybe he was referring to synthetic sapphire?  It's harder than natural sapphire crystals, and more expensive.  Synth sapphire might be the hardest substance used for watch crystals, from what I've been reading.  I know my Rolex has a sapphire crystal which is shock and scratch resistant.

The only thing harder is diamond so that pretty much means the only thing that can scratch it is diamond.

Rolex Hulk Submariner. BTW you meant sapphire crystal, not emerald. This was my wedding present 2 years ago and I wear it everyday. The crystal is amazing and nearly unscratchable however it can shatter if dropped just right.
