Yup…what they need to do is keep people from “reserving” benches for others. You want a bench, sign in and get assigned one and no one on the range or line until it opens up for sign in. I’ve seen instances of one fool taking up three benches for his buddies before the range even opens just by putting something on the each bench.  :grrr:

I guess an armed society is not always a polite society.

But, at least we have the Aloha Spirit going for us!

Now if we can only get rid of the Ainokea element...

A simple pull a number and have the current number on a digital screen would be efficient.  Even if someone pulls a # for a friend, but said friend isn't there yet, guy cannot turn in the # for a 2nd or 3rd bench. That # then gets skipped and on to the next one.

No online RSVP, 1st come, 1st serve.

This might not be a popular post for some but I'd still want a reservation system for weekdays.  I've had situations where I showed up at 11:30 and I was lucky to get the last of a couple of tables.

Whoever came a minute later is out of luck.

And yes, when the range gets hot at 12:00, you hardly hear much rifles firing.  Mostly social hour for the chosen ones.

Not as bad on the pistol side.

Did not know that. It would be easy enough to institute the reservation system on the weekdays if necessary.

yeah, i've seen that, when it was open on weekdays.  used to make sure I got there 30-45 minutes early to be sure i got a table.  used to be full up at 12 noon.  of course, it cleared out at 2pm.

and folks reserving multiple tables.  not cool.   :wtf:

The reservation system is a good thing.  So people don't have to wait a couple hours for a space.in the mornings.  It needs a penalty or lockout for no shows, and the ability to cancel your own reservation.

Yes.  There was a time I showed up around 11:55 or so.  There were no tables.  All full.  All fine with me since I did arrive late.

So I sat down and figured, since I drove 30+ miles to get here might as well wait for a table.  That didn't happen till like you said, roughly around 1:45-2pm.

But what bothered me was while sitting down and looking to my left, a lot of the tables in that area were empty during hot sessions.  Nobody shooting but a lot of socializing.

That's ok too.  Good to have a place to meet friends with similar interests.  And honestly if they were to open ALL the slots it wouldn't be a problem in my opinion.  There are at least 8 - 10 more tables closer to the highway but they never open those up.

Safety reasons?  Then move the highway, LOL!

Sounds like justification to build a covered pavilion down by the restrooms in that big open field. Clubs could have meetings or hold classes there. It could be a win-win situation. We would just have to keep chasing away homeless people and vandals.

Comparing our range and the Clark County one (Vegas), it seems like the clientele is different. Like here, there a a good amount who hang out all day. They use the range to socialize. That's fine, until it gets busy and now you got 10 tables taken by these types of people.  And I'm not talking about the guys who shoot 1 bullet and are waiting for their barrel to cool as it does affect accuracy.

At CC range, it seems like guys come, do their thing and leave.  But to be fair, I've only been to the CC range twice, so maybe it is like here, but I just went on off days.

The main reason I advocate for reservations is:

The time and distance to the range.  It's a long way.  Takes me 40 minutes or longer depending on traffic.  Most times longer.

Everyone's time is precious.  I want to be able to get there, shoot, then leave for the next guy.  I don't want to sit and wait.  And I certainly don't want to be passed up for "friends" while waiting.

The anxiety of wondering if there will be open slots while driving in traffic to the range is not a good feeling.

I like the reservation system too. Altho i live in town. I hate going there and waiting an hour or so early to either wait for a spot or just there early enough to claim a spot

July 10th has past. Any one can confirm khsc is open on weekdays?

I tried the khsc website and nada. I also tried doing a reservation but it only showed the weekend dates in the drop down menu.

I saw one of the RSO last night. He said the turnout was light.
