First Time at Silly Side
« on: July 12, 2018, 09:03:40 AM »
Might go this weekend for the 1st time.  Any unwritten rules?  I've heard people can be brass Nazi's.

Go out and help with the targets during the breaks.  I help put back up the metal targets that are on the rails even though I don't really shoot them.  It helps get everyone back shooting faster.  I see many who shoot the falling targets and don't help.

I've never come across brass Nazi's, but I have heard stories about people getting touchy about it.  I tend to sweep up whatever is in my area.  If I notice someone saving their brass, I'll usually ask.

Never come across any brass Nazis on that side, and if there are, you can usually easily pick them out. Sweep up your brass, help target reset, and leave your area better than when you found it and you should be G2G :)

Didn't know they allow rimfire rifles.  More incentive to buy that Ruger rimfire for my bday. =P

Other threads on here going into great detail on the brass vultures.  Silly side seems to have more problems than the rest.  They don't ask. They just take and hope you're too shy to tell them to stop.

Someone should get them T-shirts:

Speaking of brass vultures.  After a day on the range in the action bays, our group was debriefing after the students had left.  We usually pick up all the brass before do that, but some had to leave early, so we decided to debrief first.  While we are there on the range doing the debrief, this car drives up and starts pick up brass.  In the area right next to us.  A couple asked them to hold off and wait until we were done.  They looked at us like it was their right to scoop all of the brass.  I've encountered some of "them" in the past and generally they are pretty cool about this.  These two guys were complete a$$holes.

I think so.  The guys in the van or truck always wait for us to leave.

It is equally useful in securing meat for the table, destroying group enemies on the battlefield, and resisting tyranny. In fact, it is the only means of resisting tyranny, since a citizenry armed with rifles simply cannot be tyrannized."

Yeah, I think so.  This was a while ago though.

Most recently, some guys did something similar after the SSF.  We were still cleaning up and they just parked their car near where we still had stuff and starting picking.  It was two guys in I think a harder Mazda, but not sure.

I mean I'm sure there's plenty there that we would have missed, but at least ask first.

Although I've never experienced brass nazi's there, it's probably bc I mostly shoot revolvers and a bolt action 22 rifle there, so they are nazi proof
And I go early morning most time, maybe the mokes still sleeping
But when I do shoot my 45acp semiauto's, I pick up my brass fairly quickly and any brass that's not mine I leave alone or if they're under my feet I'll return them to their rightful owner

Didn't know they allow rimfire rifles.  More incentive to buy that Ruger rimfire for my bday. =P

I set up my Ruger American rimfire with this silhouette range in mind, scope has bdc and wind holdovers which I use. A lot of fun and still challenging to hit the small targets at 100m

I’d question the vultures’ personal situation if they’re desperate for .22s :P

Hawaiian nomadic desert Arab? Haha

Sometimes I’m in the action bays early and I’ll see guys scavenging brass and looks like steel casing. I also see them digging in the berm. I guess they are mining for the lead. Gotta watch out for the sharp jacket material.

The wife still wants to invent a brass picker-upper.  Like a magnetic type one.  Not a rake.

When my friend’s son was younger, he’d play the “brass pick up game”. As he got older, we’d ask him if he wanted to play the game and he would respond “how much will you give me?”

He was getting smarter. . . Kids. . .
