They can track you down just by the photo you placed on your phone.  The article also shows how to stop them from doing it.

Carlos danger is in trouble
Your number one Option for Personal Security is a lifelong commitment to avoidance, deterrence, and de-escalation.

Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.

I never read the link, but IPhones have a code in the picture that tells the location of the photo.
Imagine all the other things our phone can do that we don't know about

I cant see the video at work, but I am assuming you are talking about the phone saving info on where you took it (lat/long, time). Pretty sure all phones can turn that off, at least mine can. I do have mine turned off.

That's how they found the location of fugitive John McAfee, of McAfee Antivirus fame.

The reporter took a "secret location" photo with John McAfee and McAfee's GPS location was revealed for the world to see.

This is a little "off Topic" but yet in the same vein and just as chilling.  People can hack into your house via a "baby monitor."

Texas family discovers baby monitor hacked

HOUSTON (KTRK/CNN) – Texas parents were horrified to discover the camera they were using to monitor their 2-year-old and keep her safe was hacked, and what the hacker did was chilling.
But over the weekend, someone else was watching, too.
"It felt like somebody broke into our house," he said.
"He said, 'Wake up, Allyson, you little (expletive).'"
Gilbert knew it was coming from the camera.
"I see the camera move on us," he said.
Gilbert immediately pulled the plug and started doing research. He believes someone hacked his router as well as the camera. The person could see Allyson's name on her wall and call her by it.
He now wants to warn other parents about the danger.

If you turn it off properly, the location will not be recorded. You can verify that with tools like this free metadata viewer. If you already have pics taken when geotagging was on, you can always remove geotagging from them before posting them online.
