why people still put sauerkraut on a hotdog when kimchi exists is a crime against humanity.

=============
sounds waycist to me

...
On Sunday I stopped at Costco to buy a dog and a drink.
The self-serve ketchup-mustard-relish-drink is gone now.
They give you condiments in little cups and somebody pours your drink for you.
still no moa kimchee

Sauerkraut on a hotdog is da bomb.  Sam's Club used Covid as an excuse to shutdown their drink fountain.  Now instead of a 🌭 and drink for $1.50, a 🌭 alone costs $1.50 and you have to buy a canned drink.

National Hot Dog Day
National Junk Food Day

The spirit of Hot Dog Day and Junk Food Day must have moved me.  For no reason I made myself 2 hot dogs and heated up the leftover corn chowder from the other day.

I ate slowly and reverently.  Relished each bite and slurp.  I usually just scarf everything down in a minute or two.

Then I happened upon this thread.

Ooooohhhhh......(chicken skin)

For lunch today will be a Redondo's frank on a sweet bread roll. Yum.
I used to get Loves sweet bread hot dog buns from the thrift store.
But I never saw those at a regular store.

Since today is also junk food day, I'm having MMS peanut candy too.

Even the best kimchi is inedible.  I can't even stand the smell, much less the taste.   :shake:

To each his own.....

I'm a minimalist.  Hotdog with ketchup is standard.  Add cheese and/or chili, and it's no longer a hotdog, but a cheese-dog or chili-dog.  Both are yummy!  :geekdanc:

Joey Chestnut set a new world record this month by eating 76 hotdogs, buns and all, in 10 minutes. He beat his previous record of 75.

Sauerkraut and mustard.
Haole Kimchi.
Grinds on Dogs and Corned Beef.

Kimchi is a staple in our fried rice.
Never tried kimchi on a Dog. Gonna have to now.

Bet Joey Chestnut couldn’t finish 76 Kimchi Dogs.
Maybe he could but talk about the burning bungie the next day.
He would definitely need TP for his bung hole.

In South Korea, they bury the kimchi in stoneware pots to let it ferment ... and to keep the stench out of their houses in the process!

I say they have the right idea -- if they would just leave it buried.

Kailua doesn't have Agnes Bakery anymore. Used to get Sweet Dogs from them.  Redondo Pig in a Portagee sweet bread Blanket. You had to be there before 7AM or sold out for the day.

Super Ono.

A place named Cuz's in Chicago served me one of the best hot dogs meals.

A foot long Polish dog with thinly sliced Italian roast beef stuffed in a big bun, and
it came with a side order of sauteed mushrooms in butter.

It was a heart attack special but I ate it 3 times in one week.

Sounds like it would be even better with Kimchi on top.

When I was in Korea the local markets had a very.......interesting smell.  The air was literally permeated by garlic and chili.  Very strong and hard to get used to if you're just a visitor (or on annual training like I was).

That unique smell stays with me to this day.  I first smelled it 39 year ago.

We were raised eating kim chee.  We ate it with everything, but never thought of having it with a Hot Dog.  Now I have a new way to try hot dogs!

I think it's interesting that all ethnic cultures have some kind of fermented veggies and foods.

I like eating sauerkraut on hot dogs and also cooked with sausages and red potatoes and carrots.
