Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Friday announced a freeze on handgun sales
and transfers.

The handgun freeze, which went into effect Friday, outlaws sales, purchases and other
transfers of handguns between individuals. Additionally, no foreign handguns may be
brought into the country from abroad.

Any wagers as to how long until Canada blames the US for the failure of this ban to stop crimes involving handguns -- similar to Mexico's lawsuits?

I imagine the number of criminals just went up exponentially in Canada, as it did/does in Hawaii.

What you're stating is historically proven.

In Australia, after they banned pretty much all firearms except non-semi shotguns and a few bolt action rifles, the number of gun crimes being prosecuted went up each year.  However, the charges were not for shootings, but for violating the ban.

You can't legislate human behavior -- it's a proven fact.

Just ban/give up ur assault weapons.

The Brady Campaign used to be called "Handgun Control, Inc."  They stopped focusing on handguns, because they finally realized that handguns are never going to be banned in the US.  They are too useful for self defense no matter how many criminal, accidental and suicide uses there are.

Even though most crimes are committed with handguns, they switched focus to "assault weapons", because the fear-factor they could stoke was obvious and effective.

They don't care WHICH guns they get banned.  One class of firearms banned is one victory for them.  Then they'll move on to another class, and another ...  They will never be happy until all firearms are banned for civilian use.

Luckily, until the Constitution is changed, we have legal protection against these people -- as long as the pro-constitution justices maintain a majority on the Supreme Court.
