Some basic survival rules
« on: September 15, 2009, 12:28:08 AM »
I pulled this one from the Hawaii Hunters Education Manual.  Please add more survival rules or tips that you know.

There are seven basic rules for survival that will help you.
  1. Tell someone where you are going and when you plan to return. Leave your hunt plan with family or friends.
  2. Never hunt alone.
  3. Carry enough food for two days.
  4. Take along two compasses and a map of the area. Know how to use them.
  5. Wear proper clothing and carry proper equipment. Remember that the weather can change.
  6. Plan your hunt so you can return to your car or camp before dark.
  7. Know how to build a fire and take proper fire starting materials.
