Join our local group on Meetup.com to participate in a variety of shooting events, social gatherings, and question and answers discussions.  We will explore the different disciplines of shooting such as USPSA competitions, hunting, high power rifle, and recreational shooting along with visiting different ranges and training opportunities.  It's also great for those new to the island and beginners.

I'm offering a Long Gun Basics course for those interested in shooting rifles and shotguns, and want to know how to acquire them.  This is a great course for beginners as there aren't many places that teach this locally.  The course covers different types of rifles and shotguns, shooting fundamentals, and laws and requirements to acquire one.  All equipment is provided.  Class is on Sunday August 14 8:30am-4:00pm in Kapolei and is dryfire only. No cost to attend.

Puuloa range was canceled for this weekend, got a regular rifle practice and coaching instead.  Prepare for the Puuloa long range rifle regional CMP and NRA matches next month!

I have a free class on drawing from a holster, reloading, and clearing malfunctions.  Saturday September 10 from 9:30am to 1pm.  No cost.  RSVP at www.meetup.com/HawaiiGGG.

This classroom only event will teach you how to safely draw and shoot from a holster.  This is a good follow on class to your basic pistol course.  This can help prepare you for the defensive/CCW courses, tactical style competitions, MPPL matches, and future events.  I have firearms, simulators, gun belts, holsters, and other equipment available for loan.  Do not bring ammunition to the class.

This is a dryfire only class which will cover:
Types of holsters
Drawing from a holster
Workspace
Magazine reloads
Type 1, 2, & 3 malfunction clearing
One hand shooting
Safe moving techniques
Using a timer

SKILL LEVEL:  Novice, you must know how to operate and fire a handgun safely:  terminology and safety rules, loading, unloading, locking the slide back, muzzle discipline, fundamentals of shooting.

Got 3 spots open for the handgun holsters & reloads class on Saturday September 10th.  Good class for those who completed their basic pistol class or want to learn how to draw from a holster properly and safely to advance to CCW, MPPL shoots, classes, and other stuff.  All equipment is provided, you don't need to bring a holster or gun.

Also there is an open rifle practice at Puuloa range on October 22nd shooting at the 200, 300, 500, and 600 yard lines.  I can sponsor people on if we've shot together before or been to the meetup events.

Attend our KHSC rifle practice on September 18th at 8am if you need some coaching tips, new to rifle shooting, or just need help learning about the range.  You will need to bring your own rifles and ammo.  I have a spare rifle target frame to loan.

Also on the same day, join our group at the DLNR Hunting & Fishing Day at 10:30am.

Puuloa rifle match has been changed to a practice and clinic 200 to 600 yards.   Skill level Novice and up, able to shoot 100 accurately from different positions.  Must meet access requirements.  See meetup event for details.

Added a KHSC Metallic Silhouette shoot on October 8th for an easy day of shooting for new and experienced shooters, try out eachothers guns, and meet everyone.  Also for Oct 8th is a class for anyone that is interested in shooting rifle at the Puuloa rifle range for the open shoot on Oct 22 and F-Class precision rifle match on Nov 19 and NRA Highpower on Nov 20.  I'll go over how to make elevation and windage adjustments which you'll need to do when shooting at longer ranges.

Added another rifle clinic on October 9th to cover basic shooting positions.

Scaled practice targets for the Puuloa F-Class and NRA Highpower RIfle matches in November.  Print targets out to "actual size" and shoot at 100 yards.

I want to make this Saturday I can give you a hand with fclass questions and shooting.  I printed out some rule books to distribute to interested folks.  I hope I can find a sitter.  Haha :)

Added the Handgun holsters and manipulations class for October 16th in Pearl City.  This is a classroom dryfire only class which will teach you how to draw from a holster, magazine reloads, malfunctions, using a timer, and other techniques that you can live-fire practice at the Oct 23 Puuloa pistol practice and the Nov 6th MPPL class/match.  Also good prep for CCW courses and other future training.  Prereqs:  complete a basic pistol course or equivalent.  Cost:  Free

I added a last minute KHSC rifle practice for Saturday afternoon(Oct 15th).  This is the last chance for civilians to get a sponsorship to attend the Puuloa open rifle practice on October 22nd where you can shoot up to the 600 yards which is a preparation for the F-Class Match on November 19th, or the Puuloa open pistol practice on October 23rd.  I'll also give shooting tips and do a little coaching too.  http://www.meetup.com/HawaiiGGG/events/234817864/

Come on out, we need more rifle competitors out there.  Just RSVP on the meetup page.  Practice is going to be in the prone (and other positions depending what you're shooting) on the left side of the rifle range, spots without the benches.

   We attended and had a great time with Todd, Joe, Adam and my sweetie  :love:

     Todd had some interesting learning skills idea's that were fun and informative.
Was nice to have the area reserved and be assured of a position.

   Thanks Todd for helping with the basic's of scope workings, it was nice meeting you.
Had fun playing "around the clock" adjusting wind age and elevation to purposely mess up my zero and getting it back.
Looking forward to some distance shooting at Pu'uloa when I can.

We had a great time at Puuloa this past weekend with a bunch of shooters from 2ahawaii getting in some long range rifle practice and fighting the 20mph crosswinds at the 600 yard line.  It was a challenge for some keeping the bullets on the 6ft targets.  Got my zeros in preparation for the F-Class rifle match next month.  Then it was a more casual pistol practice in the shooting bays.

Update 10-26-16:  Put up a few events.  Getting ready for the MPPL 101 Class and the Puuloa F-Class Precision Rifle Match in November.  I'll have a rifle practice at KHSC on November 12th for those that need help getting ready for the F-Class match and need sponsorship on the range.

Hope you can make it down.  I'll go over info on the Puuloa range and get you prepped for some longer range shooting.  Mainly working on scope adjustments and wind calculations that you'll need to make the 600 yard shot.

Forgot to post up earlier, the Puuloa F-Class match was cancelled and replaced with a rifle practice this Saturday.  Shooting 15 minutes at the 200, 300, 500, and 600 yard lines with added rapid fire stages at the 200 and 300.

Sorry for the late reply, yes it is.  Cheap class for those that may not be able to afford a regular priced class.  I'm also getting in practice before my NRA training counselor class next week.  Got another one coming up this weekend...last one for the holidays.

Update 1-3-2017
I added more pistol events to the schedule for 2017 starting with my last Holiday Basic Pistol Course for only $50, with a train up for the MPPL Aloha State Games in June and Chinese Gun Club CMP EIC pistol match in April.  I try to do a train up so that anyone, including beginners, can participate in those events.   I'm working on a rifle training plan and other events.

I'll be offering a NRA Pistol instructor class this summer.  It'll be a 2 1/2 day class to include BIT,     pistol instruction, and range session.   Candidates must be proficient with semiauto handguns and revolvers, able to put 16 out of 20 hits in a 6" target at 15 yds, and have a good general knowledge of firearms.  Cost will be around $100 + $30 to $50 credentialing fee and range fees.  In addition hold a class at cost for the meetup group(or pay $300 for the class.)  Ill put out more specifics later but you can start prepping.

Recently, especially after the Kauai GISC shoot, there's been an increased interest in shooting at Pu'uloa. Come out to The Brewseum, half WWII museum/half brewery, for some drinks and gun talk this weekend.  I've never been there but it's got great reviews and looks cool in the pics.  If you got a hunting license, come out for some bird hunting next month.  I'm still trying to confirm if the November F-Class rifle match is a go or not.  December is vintage rifle shoot so dustoff those old rifles or buy a  M1 Garand from the CMP.

Lastnight the meetup, 2ahawaii, and HPU Vets went to The Brewseum which is near the Blaisdell Center Jack in the Box.  It's a brewery with WWII displays.  Nice place with friendly staff.  It was Oktoberfest night so we got some grilled Bratwurst and locally brewed ale along with a stein holding contest.  The museum nextdoor was better than expected, a more personal view of WWII history.  Well worth the trip.  http://www.brewseums.com/

Up on deck I'll be helping novice shooters with coaching at KHSC next weekend and try our hand at Krav Maga next month which is a good personal protection fighting that complements your CCW.  Signup for the Friends of the NRA banquet soon before it sells out, it's the biggest annual social event for gun nuts on the island.
Also coming up early next month is a 2a seminar and some events with the HPU student veterans.

All from 200 yards, 50 rounds total.
1) slow fire prone 20 rounds, 25 minutes.
2) rapid fire prone from standing 10 rounds, 70 seconds.
3) rapid fire sitting or kneeling from standing 10 rounds, 60 seconds.
4) slow fire standing 10 rounds, 10 minutes.

I got a Honolulu Firearms & Range membership today. I'll be doing afterwork coaching sessions on the weekdays or just comeout to practice. There's a $12 range fee. I have lots of cheap 9mm available, other calibers you have to buy from the store which cost quite a bit more. Pistols and 22lr/PCC rifles. I'll post up my practice days on www.meetup.com/HawaiiGGG.

First Aid Course

This first aid course will teach basic human anatomy, bandages, tourniquets, quick clot bandages, how to build a kit, and other life saving techniques. Great class for firearms instructors, RSO's, and those interested in treating injuries on and off the range. Pizzas and drinks provided.

NO CERTIFICATION WILL BE GIVEN AND INSTRUCTORS ALONG WITH HAWAII GUYS AND GALS WITH GUNS ASSUME NO LIABILITY IF YOU USE THESE FIRST AID TECHNIQUES.

DATE/TIME: Saturday January 13, 5:15pm - 8:30pm
LOCATION: Paki Community Park, enter through Leahi Ave. We'll be in the classroom building.
ATTIRE: Dress comfortably
EQUIPMENT OPTIONAL: Bring your first aid kit to get it checked out. Pen and paper for notes.
FEES: $5 cash to cover pizza, drinks, and supplies.

The new Meetup format is a little confusing. The older version was a lot easier to follow. I am not qualified to run events. I do appreciate all that you do though.
