Reloading / Help with custom ammo.
« on: July 25, 2021, 01:41:40 PM »
Aloha all,
I recently purchased some .223 ammo that appears to be hand loaded. I am trying to fire it from a bolt gun and it seems to be loaded a little too long. I have no experience reloading and was hoping there was someone that could help reseat the bullet to correct tolerances. I am willing to pay for services. Thank you.

Firearms and Accessories / CAA Roni legal in Hawaii?
« on: November 11, 2020, 10:23:22 AM »
I know this isn’t a new topic but wanted to confirm if the CAA Roni or similar type is legal in Hawaii? I recently visited X-Ring and saw they had them for sale. When I inquired about it the staff indicated that they were legal in Hawaii. I was under the impression that it was not allowed in Hawaii even with an arm brace. Has something g changed? Again my apologies if repeat post. Thanks.

Firearms and Accessories / Ruger American .22 Standard length barrel
« on: September 28, 2014, 01:35:37 PM »
After taking the suggestion of the 2Ahawaii community I went ahead and picked up an Ruger American .22 from Sports Authority. With the Mil discount it came out to be $273.00. Seems like a pretty good price so things were already starting off in the right direction. Went home unpacked all the usual goodies (lock, manuals and one magazine). Being the RAR uses 10/22 mags and already having a bunch definitely gives it a plus in my book. Fit and finish are definitley first rate as to be expected from Ruger. The following week got permission from the wife to head out to the range to test out the RAR. The rifle functioned very smoothly and fed everything loaded. Honestly it was a little unnerving at first when I took the first couple of shots. Prior to shooting the RAR I shot my 10/22 so I was used to what little recoil that had. So when I shot the RAR and felt absolutely no recoil I thought something was wrong. For a brief second I even thought the weapon was misfiring or I had bad ammo. All the fears went away as soon as I picked up my spotting scope. All shot were placed within a 2" pattern. I know your probably thinking so what that's no big deal. Well for an old guy like me and not having shot irons in a while I was actually very pleased with my self. I'm sure with practice and some good ammo the RAR and I could do much better.
In conclusion, it's my opinion that the RAR is a great rifle and I would highly recommend it for novice and seasoned shooters. At $273.00 you get a lot of bang for your buck.

Off Topic / Smoker recommendations
« on: September 11, 2014, 07:30:32 PM »
Aloha 2ahawaii community, have always wanted to get in to smoking meat, ribs and brisket but have no idea where to start. I figure first step is to get a smoker. Any suggestions? I am not mechanically inclined or have the resources to do any fabrication and would prefer to buy one. Thanks all for the help.

Reviews / "Grab a gun" retailer review
« on: April 20, 2014, 08:22:37 AM »
Recently ordered a Timney SCAR 16 trigger from "Grab a Gun" (grab agin.com) located in Texas.  Found them while doing a search for the cheapest price on "slick guns" (another review later on that site). Anyway, price was cheapest I could find and shipping was reasonable. Got here in a couple of days as promised. Would recommend ordering from them again.

Firearms and Accessories / Anyone interested in Hydrographics?
« on: April 24, 2013, 04:34:59 PM »
Thinking of starting a Hydrographics business but trying to get a feel of the interest before we go further. If you are interested, what types of patterns/camo would you like to see. If things go well hopefully we can get up and running soon. Thanks in advance for all replys.
