Requirements changed back, no expiration date on hunters education for a long gun permit.

So those that have old hunters ed can still use it to acquire long guns still?

Bill is supposed to be changed to only applies to felons or prohibited persons. But it can always be changed back.

Passed with ayes.

So shouldn't apply to us?

It has to be done at a FFL before you take possession, so even a P80 has to be engraved before you touch it.

That was my understanding of the law. I remember Wgs had a p80 lower and I asked "i thought those were illegal " they said it would be serialized before the buyer took ownership.

That why this bill seems so stupid. They're literally admitting to letting "criminals" walk. They're catching people with things that are by their definition is illegal and then letting them free. Just because the firearm is in pieces. Yet it's illegal just to own or have in possession?
It's like seeing a person with a stockpile of fireworks and saying that's fine to have it just as long as they're not caught lighting them...

aww man no way.   On the bright side at lease the LTC’s are good for 4 years. did you have to pay $150 for each pistol or just $150 for both?

Paid $150 for both. And was told I had to start over this year it wasn't a renewal

I know this is old, but what freight forwarding service will do it?  Trying to put together an order for a few of us.

Wouldn't mind jumping in on this if it happens

1.  Each county does it differently.  Honolulu requires a firearms safety course.  I believe the others do not.

2.  Statewide.

3.  Each county does it differently.

So I don't need to do a big island ccw anymore if I already passed on Oahu?

So for now back to sidewalk carry?

Looks like your ccw lasts only 1 year

§134-4  Transfer, possession of firearms.
(a)  No transfer of any rifle having a barrel length of sixteen inches or over or any shotgun having a barrel length of eighteen inches or over, whether usable or unusable, serviceable or unserviceable, modern or antique, registered under prior law or by a prior owner, or unregistered shall be made to any person under the age of eighteen years, except as provided by section 134-5.

This is what made me think 18 was good for long guns and 21 for pistols. Why would they include this?

Now that it's too late to amend the bill, since it's going to Comrade Greens desk, there is a flaw in it.  If passed, it allows the open carrying of any deadly or dangerous weapon.  So, swords, medieval weapons, TDI Ka-Bar.  I"m sure they will fix this next year.

This is what happens when our anti 2a lawmakers rush to pass a bill due to a lawsuit because said law is unconstitutional. Who ever they also counseled is a moron (AG) because there's now way HI would intentionally allow this.  We saw this with the sensitive places bill and all the parts that contradict each other and constitutionality of it.

So if he signs it open carry is legal? I'm sure he won't sign it if any deadly weapon is legal to open carry. Wouldn't this kill this bill for at least this year?

Additional info:

HIFICO was formed because after this, Alan also worked with it's founder when HPD told him that permanent resident aliens cannot own guns.  Even though HI and federal law states that they can.

How does this work cause we talked to hpd about registering a firearm to my wife and they said that she can't. Even though she's lived in the US since 1996.
