Political Discussion / Re: Thoughts on Trump's Tariffs Thread
« on: April 23, 2025, 12:29:15 AM »
You derailed your own thread when you started attacking everyone you disagree with:
None of that has to do with tariffs, but rather the people you don't like supporting Trump in general.

I didn't say anyone here was a die hard Trump supporter. Is this an admission by you?
You didn't do anything to defend his tariffs, just complained that I pointed out some people will blindly justify them.

Quote
If you can't stay on your own topic, don't blame others for derailing it.

The topic is support levels for his tariffs. Pointing out there are people who will justify the tariffs regardless of how good or bad it turns out is part of that. You talk of democrats who did such things about Biden, now you are upset I say there are MAGA people who would do the same for Trump?

With the thousands of deportations, mistakes are bound to happen. Someone who's logical would make this correct assumption.

#nothingburger

You going to say the same thing if a TRO from an angry ex takes away your gun rights?

This wasn't a mistake by the way, the person provided sufficient proof and the judge still held him.

Much ado about nothing.

Making a mountain out of a mole hill.

So a TRO blocking you from owning a gun for a while is a huge constitutional violation but arresting a citizen for being an illegal alien, no biggie?

Show me where I made a mountain out of it. I posted a news story in a neutral manner, stop trying to make it all about you.

How much do you know about the differences between Immigration hearings' rules of evidence and that of Criminal Trials?

Maybe you should really do your own homework instead of asking stupid questions you could answer yourself.  Maybe if you spent half the time educating yourself as you spend pretending to educate the rest ot us, these threads would be much, much shorter.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deportation_of_Kilmar_Abrego_Garcia

Swoosh. It was a rhetorical question for you. The point was that he didn't get to cross examine the accuser.

As for the tattoos, I have seen this photo up everywhere held up as proof of his gang membership. I think there is no doubt he did have these tattoos, but I haven't seen where marijuana, a happy face, a cross, and a skull somehow translate to MS13.

Do you even know anything about this story other than what the MSM tells you? Time once again to Educate EEF.

Do you even know anything the pro-Trump media doesn't tell you?

Quote
The dude is locked up in a maximum security prison in El Salvador because of his gang activities.

Was he linked to a specific crime, was he charged or convicted with any crime? Are you aware that El Salvador is basically tossing out due process and just locking people up on suspicion of being gang members?

Quote
Do you really want to advocate for his return to the US?  You want the president of El Salvador to knowingly traffic in criminals and help them enter the US illegally?

I can't believe you are buying such a specious argument, you are portraying extradition as trafficking in criminals.

Quote
There's no scenario in which this man will be allowed to enter the US again and stay after the US "facilitates" his return.

I don't expect him to get permission to stay, I expect the government to do their job properly. Adjudicate his deportation hold then deport him. Think of how much money they would have saved if they just did it properly from the beginning.

Quote
One other fact:  that man was never granted a green card or work visa, was never granted asylum or refugee status, and he never tried to become a naturalized citizen.  A judge issuing an order not to deport is not the same as becoming a legal resident with the permission of the federal government to remain in the US.  Only the feds can make such a determination legally.

Indeed.

The El Salv pres said "like smuggling" as an example.  Maybe they know more info on him than the US does.  Hence his comment.

How would driving him to the airport for a US transport and handing him over to US authorities be smuggling?

Please show me where I said burden of proof is on the accused, or that they must prove a negative.

Then why bring up the point that not being convicted doesn't mean he never committed a crime?  You said it is a weak argument that he had no sort of criminal record. Obviously not having a record doesn't mean you are innocent but it sounded like you putting the burden of proof on him to prove the accusation of gang membership wrong. His argument doesn't have to be strong unless the prosecution had first made a good case of his gang involvement.

Quote
He is afraid of being persecuted, not kidnapped or killed.  Two different arguments.  Please show me where the court said he would be kidnapped or killed in their deportation hearing.

How do you know what he is afraid of?

Simple.  It's about EEF.  All the threads are about EEF.

Says the guy who starts a fight in nearly every thread I post in. Don't make your behavior about me

Looking forward to some good news. Love going there.

That's not a very mature attitude, nor is it very Christian.

If your 4 year old son or daughter hit you, i guess you'd hit them back.  Not exactly stellar parenting.

So you, like a bully, want to hit me but suggest I have virtue when I hit you back. How convenient for you.

I've spent a while reading through the topics on here about ensuring legal compliance with the pistol rules (Thanks dogman for all the great posts), and I wanted to make sure I'm not missing anything at this point before I start the build. I also figured I'd try to consolidate and create a short, succinct post to have it in one place.

The two options I see are welded magazine or bolt action.

- Get the lower, register as a pistol (or other, I suppose)
- Kali Key installed in the upper creating a bolt action vice semi-automatic
- No mags over 10 rounds

Am I missing anything?

You could look into the lever action AR guns though I don't know if you can buy the lower by itself as a pistol.
The other option is a pump action AR-15. They do make some in rifle length but I have never seen the lower for sale by itself.
I  did have a design for a pump handle to make a pump AR-15 but I never got to the step to design a rod to connect the handle to the bolt. I wanted to build a pump AR pistol in .300 blackout but too busy to go down that road.

He lost having the last word in other threads, so stating a new one is his new method to get a good feeling.

Another post showing you can't help yourself but to derail another thread.

So, you're saying you don't know.

Wrong. Reading comprehension isn't that hard.

Quote
This is a duplicate topic in a separate thread so you could try to control the discuss.  You disguised it as a poll to avoid having it removed.

Feel free to point to the other thread specifically about Trump's tariffs.
I disguised it? So are you saying you are a mind reader? You think it should be removed? Are you that bothered when someone criticizes the dear leader that you must have it removed?
The question is why you couldn't have a dedicated thread about tariffs without turning it to a mud slinging contest? You couldn't even be bothered to defend the tariffs

Quote
Please show me where i said any of that.

I didn't say you said any of that. It was a sarcastic response to your stupid, baseless reply.

US citizen arrested under suspicion of entering Florida while being an unauthorized alien. When he saw the judge the next morning the judge inspected the birth certificate and social security card and considered them to be authentic. She found no probable cause for the charge but he still ordered the man detained because ICE had an immigration detainer which is a request to hold someone so DHS can take a migrant into custody. He was later released

https://www.cnn.com/2025/04/17/us/lopez-gomez-citizen-detained-ice-florida/index.html

I looked for body camera footage but haven't found any yet. He was held less than 48 hours. Not great but better than those times they deported US citizens

Biased? Maybe but I think it very possible that it is just a business calculation. Big companies know that decisions like these can rile up crowds and they may simply choose to avoid any messages that might draw ire regardless of which side it comes from so as to avoid reduced sales.

Legal? I would argue absolutely yes

Who are you addressing?

Take your pick, 3 of you responded in the same vein.

Quote
Why are you posting your comments here?  There are already threads addressing the tariffs.  Rebuttals to your criticisms and opinions here already exist there.

To have a poll and a topic dedicated to the issue and a fresh start without trolling (didn't take long for that to fail)

Quote
Maybe you were tired of being proven wrong, so you decided to start your own Trump-bashing thread disguised as a poll.

Nothing you do surprises me.  Never wrong -- Never apologetic.

False premise and sorry, I didn't realize your leader was not allowed to be criticized on this forum. You going to report me because I dare point out where Trump is failing?

"Trade deficits and surpluses are always going to exist, money doesn't flow equally back and forth between every country."

Yet you somehow believe tariffs have to be equal to be reciprocal or fair.

Think logically.  If there's a trade deficit of billions, and both the US and China charge the same/equal tariff rates (your definition of reciprocal), then what's the point of tariffs?   Raising the cost of exports equally between two countries only increases prices in both markets.  Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Financial expert Kevin O'Leary says US tariffs on China should be 400%.  FYI:  "IP" = Intellectual Property...

I didn't say they have to be reciprocal or fair. I said Trump is being dishonest by claiming his tariffs are reciprocal or fair. Trump is engaging in protectionism, these are, ironically, traditionally liberal political stances.

There is a trade deficit between me and Mcdonalds. I have bought many burgers from them but they never buy anything from me but that's ok because trade doesn't have to be equal on all levels. McDonalds isn't unfair to me or cheating me out of my money because they don't buy stuff from me directly proportional to how much I have bought from them.

As it pertains to China I do support more aggressive tariffs on China but not because of the deficit rather because of their aggression, their IP theft, and a number of other factors. That is entirely different than the tariffs on our friends and neighbors.
19
have you even looked at the list of tariffs other countries put on US goods?

Yes I did. I looked at Japan in more depth and Trump's 24% has no bearing on the tariff's Japan puts on US goods, they aren't even close to Japan's average of about 4% tariff on our goods.

Political Discussion / Re: DOGE Thread

Illustrating how irrelevant and useless your previous post is.

Unless you have some basis to believe the DOGE reports in question are incorrect then you're just posting for no good reason.

And what are you implying by saying "for Musk's sake?"  What do you think the consequences would be for Elon if they happen to contain errors?

Didn't know integrity and accuracy were irrelevant to you. I guess that explains a lot.

Yes, there are a number of examples to believe DOGE reports are incorrect.

What are the implications? Loss of trust not to mention the irony of the office thats supposed to root out waste and fraud being wasteful and fraudulent.
