High School Rodeo Shooting Sports
« on: July 06, 2024, 11:41:48 AM »
I'm doing a youtube livestream with my friend Mele who will be attending the High School Rodeo nationals in Wyoming in the shooting category.  She won the shooting category in Kauai and placed 4th in the State.  Next week she'll be competing in Wyoming.  In the livestream we'll discuss what this is about.  I've never heard of this, but it seems like an exciting way for kids to get into the shooting sports.

This is important as youth shooting sports is dropping off in Hawaii.  High schools have dropped smallbore, the Scouts don't shoot as much nowadays,  hunting is on the decline, and more laws and restrictions on under 21  using firearms.  It's important to support the youth who are the next general of 2A protectors.

Youtube livestream at 5pm Today (July 6)

If you mean she is using the ruger bolt gun, that is a very fine and accurate rifle. A very good choice for competition.

"HIFICo gang , Mele competed yesterday for the Light Rifle , they do three rotations standing , prone , and kneeling . She was doing awesome in prone 117 out of 110.  3 x .  Then the wind came up ,20-30 gusts . Targets flying of the boards , she even had a competitors mat fly up and hit her across the head as she shot !   Needless to say to say the other 5 flights before her that had no wind did much better .  The last 2 positions in the wind . She placed 80 out of 160 , but had the 5 th highest prone score . I want to thank everyone who donated to get her to Wyoming . Hopefully she gets a better draw ."
