I haven't been to the range since they implemented the reservation system.

If I wanted to go to the pistol or rifle range tomorrow afternoon, do I need to make get a reservation or can I just walk in?

I go pistol range almost every week.
I never made a reservation.
Mornings are more crowded though.

I live a long, long, way from KHSC.

As far as I'm concerned I will continue to make reservations due to this fact.

I don't really like the reservation system personally.  I just don't want to drive all the way there to find out I can't shoot.

This morning 0800 had more than a few empty spots at pistol side. Many stay to the next time slot at 0920
I going tomorrow too. Gotta burn more ammo

Yeah, the times I went at 9:20 and 8:00 time slots seems like all positions were taken.  When I had the 9:20 slots and I get done there are a lot of people waiting.

So it seems mornings are busy and afternoons not so much.  So if I go in the afternoons I still plan to book a timeslot.  Just in case.

I gotta get out there earlier. I did test my house gun and fired off the ammo that was in the mag for the last year or two. Happy to report no malfunctions and kept all the shots where they should go. I need to get a new house gun. This old SW is good but the tritium sights are so old they are dim. My so.cal. buddy said I should send it to Novak for a sight and action job. Maybe that's a good idea. It's more than 30 years old. I acquired it when the pistol range was still facing Hanauma Bay. It was good to see Mac and ambubadger and jl808 again. I also got to meet with the new rangemaster. He seems like a good guy and I'm looking forward to reopening the facility to It's full potential.

Are the target stands for pistol still the same dimensions as before?

Yes but first stand holder I tried was too tight for my YG wood frame so I had to use the next one over.

Reserved a lane at Kokohead for this weekend. Anybody know the best way to shoot a Garand with the “5 rounds at a time” rule? I was thinking just putting the en bloc in and ejecting 3 rounds. Not sure if the RSOs frown on that or anything.

Before they used to look past that rule for the Garand. As long as you’re not rapid firing. Not sure how it is now.

You can put 5 rounds in a 8 round clip, you just have to hold the rounds in while you load the rifle.  There are also 5 round clips for competition use or hunting.
