Welp, i want one.

Maybe we should launch a precision strike with cruise missiles to land right outside their headquarters? But not kill anyone. I know, I know, you don’t have to say it.  :geekdanc:

If there are no American injuries I am not sure a response that has a chance of killing anyone, especially civilians, is not the right move at this time. I’m no expert by any means. Maybe a big retaliation is in order? I figure if a big retaliation is coming Trump wouldn’t have announced he is going to sleep and address the country in the morning. I think something along the lines of sanctions/arm twisting is coming instead.
That's what I'm figuring, too. Iran is probably just as glad a we are that no Americans were hurt.

General Discussion / Re: Postings of crime and gun crimes slowing down???

So they deserve what they get?  I don't know any of those that were victimized, but I know many seniors who choose to do things on their own.  There are also those that don't really have anyone else for support.

This state has the most restrictive gun laws in the country.  That doesn't mean they deserve to get mugged, but it does mean I'm not lifting a finger to help someone I don't know, putting myself at risk.  If the voters want to constantly bleat for ever more restrictive gun laws, that's their prerogative, and the police are just a phone call away. I'll be minding my own business.  People who have no respect for my human rights don't deserve my help or sympathy when things go poorly for them.

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”

Why?  Because I care about the elderly, especially them being targeted.  No one said anything about being armed.  No one said putting myself at risk.  IMO, having a someone who isn't "as easy a target" in the area would serve as a deterrent.  From what I've seen of recent incidents, the attackers picked out elderly out either alone, without any else in the area.  Something I choose to do. . .
I'm a fan of letting people have what they want, which in this case is a population of sheep unequipped to look out for each other. Sure, the presence of someone who looks capable of handling himself might deter a criminal, but it might just add another victim to the tally. To each their own, though. Do what makes you happy.

Seems like it was "simple" purse snatching before, but have started seeing more reports of guns being used in recent robberies (at least one of the articles Jl808 posted).  Things escalating. . .

I shop at Don Quijote here and there and I always see elderly by themselves loading up their car in the parking lot, especially in the covered parking structure.  When I see that, I find myself looking around to see what or who else is around.  Gotta keep an eye out for them.
Why? It's a virtual certainty that the little old lady you're looking out for doesn't want you to be armed; why risk yourself on her behalf when she doesn't even want you to?

General Discussion / Re: Military PX pricing?
« on: January 07, 2020, 09:13:49 AM »
The MCBH PX has very good prices, if you have the ability to shop there. Their price on my new pistol was the exact same as the price my LGS in Montana had a week later.

General Discussion / Re: China says Americans owning guns s a problem.
« on: January 07, 2020, 09:01:38 AM »
Well, Hawaii is nothing but a lil wannabe China, so I'd say even if China's money isn't directly influencing our politics, our politicians' desire to create a totalitarian Communist country here certainly is.

General Discussion / Re: "I am going to the range today"

Anybody know if the range is open today? Everything seems shut down for new year's day.

Of course, I am not a lawyer, but for what it's worth: you can think of Hawaii's carry laws like self defense.  It's illegal to shoot and kill someone-- if you do so, you have committed a crime.  Now, you can claim self defense and the court may agree that in your particular case, no punishment is warranted due to the circumstances of your case.  In the same way, the great Communist Republic of Hawaii has decreed that having a gun outside the four walls of your house is illegal and if you have one outside those limits, you are committing a crime.  You can claim one of the exempted practices such as transporting firearms to the range or gun store, and a court/cop may agree that in your case no punishment is warranted, but that's an awfully thin thread.  Attempting to use that thin thread to sidestep the law and carry without permit is almost certainly going to wind up with you in jail.  God I hate it here, but it is what it is.

My theory is that when you get a squib load in a semi-auto, the gun fails to cycle and forces you to at the very least slow down enough to clear the malfunction.  If round one of your revolver double-tap is a squib, there's nothing stopping you from giving round two a squeeze.

Therefore, it can be safely said that revolvers are an inherently unsafe design, and should be disposed of immediately, for the safety of you and your loved ones.  I am willing to undertake this dangerous task, for a small fee, of course....

General Discussion / Re: Replacement rifle case foam
« on: December 17, 2013, 08:05:10 PM »
Anybody know where I can  get replacement foam for my rifle case locally? Doesn't have to be cut to size or anything. I just want to buy black foam and cut it down myself. I hate the pic and pluck crap that so many cases comes with.
I worked and worked at finding good replacement foam, and in the end just went with the real deal Pelican foam off Amazon.  It's expensive, but free shipping makes it pretty competitive with other options.

I agree. In Free America, people only wait 3-5 days maximum for both in/out of state residents. The same states also grant a instant sale to individuals who are residents of the state that hold a CCW card.

Of course, this isn't Free America, so no sense in even wishing.
In Free America, there is no wait.  Accept no imposters; any place that claims to be part of Free America but makes you wait to purchase guns is lying.

Strategies and Tactics / Re: can u shoot guns at sea?

Territorial waters only extend to 12nm from land.  The 200 miles you're thinking of the exclusive economic zone.  If you're outside of 12nm you'd certainly be good to go (because then you're not in America any more), the only question is whether or not you'd get in any kind of trouble for transporting to the marina and through the 12nm zone.  After typing that last parenthetical, it makes me want to sit down and have a good cry.  Things have deteriorated to the point where leaving the United States is an attractive option for people wanting to exercise a right supposedly enshrined in our Constitution.

I'm in the same boat.  I just found out about EIC and Distinguished, but there's no way in hell I can take two weeks away from the boat.  Is that how all EIC competitions are for military; with the two week school requirement?

General Discussion / Re: CCW people Safer than Police
« on: October 14, 2013, 09:57:58 AM »
I call bullshit. How are you going to compare what the general public does to what the police do.
Why would you not compare them?  It sounds like you don't have a valid reason to disbelieve the claims made, so instead you're just saying that the police shouldn't be compared to private citizens.  Why is that?  Are police officers a different species?  Comparing domestic homicides by police officers off-duty to homicides committed by private citizens seems like a fair apples-to-apples comparison to me.

Off Topic / Re: Caught on Video: Bikers surround SUV and beat up driver
« on: September 30, 2013, 07:30:58 PM »
I did read the comments. Maybe I'm interpreting it wrong but this is what I gathered from the video and the comments

The police said the collision appeared to have been inadvertent on the part of the driver. Seconds later, some of the motorcyclists, most wearing face-covering helmets, crowded around the S.U.V. The police said some began attacking it, though that is not readily apparent in the video. At least one rider present, Rene Towles, 43, offered a different account.

“No biker became aggressive with the driver after the incident,” said Mr. Towles, who belongs to a Brooklyn motorcycle club. “People were just trying to find out what just happened.”

Moments later, the vehicle accelerates toward the riders who are blocking its path, crashing into several of them and appearing to roll over at least one motorcycle. The police said that the motorcyclist who had initially been struck sustained broken legs, but that no other serious injuries were reported. For the next several minutes, the vehicle can be seen fleeing in the video, with the motorcyclists in pursuit. After being forced to stop near the entrance to the George Washington Bridge, the driver is approached by one of the motorcyclists, who tries to open the driver’s side door; the S.U.V. bolts, knocking the man down.
Watch the video.  The guy on the bike basically gets hit deliberately.  He's looking straight at the car, then pulls over in front and slows down, all while watching over his shoulder.  What a shocker: a guy on a bike thinks he's a tough guy and owns the road.  Looks to me like he roundly deserved what he got.  Here's an idea: when you're on a two wheeled machine that weighs less than a thousand pounds, and has no protective equipment whatsoever, don't try to intimidate people in SUVs.

General Discussion / Re: Conceal Carry Illegally
« on: September 29, 2013, 01:09:01 PM »
Personally, I am just waiting for the next mass shooting to happen somewhere where someone is actually carrying and stops the SOB in their tracks. Maybe that will shut them stupid anti gunners up.
You mean like they shut up after the Clackamas Mall (attempted) massacre that was stopped by someone with a legal firearm?  Liberals are retards.

General Discussion / Re: How often do you clean your gun?
« on: September 17, 2013, 09:04:12 PM »
I clean after every range session.  It's not really the cleaning that's important, you can go a hell of a long time without cleaning, at least from a fouling standpoint.  The thing that concerns me is that in Hawaii you can almost see rust forming on unprotected metal, so I worry that some parts of the gun may have had the CLP burned away and are exposed.  Most of the reason I'm so zealous about cleaning after each and every range session is to get a good coat of oil on everything to stave off rust.

General Discussion / Re: Mass Shooting at Navy Yard
« on: September 16, 2013, 06:16:22 PM »
The gunman used an AR-pattern rifle, but he acquired it during the shooting.  NBC Washington originally reported that he got it from a police officer he ambushed, but later revised that to say he got it from a gun safe.  I think the first report was probably true; unless the folks at the Navy Yard's armory are in the habit of leaving gun safes open.  At any rate, he didn't have the rifle until after the start, it seems the surveillance footage shows him with a shotgun and pistol initially.
